Coming up, the making of a chandelier inspired by willy wonka that has been upcycled from old bottles. Using various glassmaking techniques, this design is fascinating to watch!

What a wonderful work of art…just stunning. I hope others follow this example and use scrap that’s not going to biodegrade to produce such beautiful pieces!

It’s new to me as well. Just looked it up, and I guess it’s a thing, but gotta have a kiln.

Yes, you can get microwave kilns - I have one for fusing glass. The workable area is _tiny_ though - even with a larger kiln, as the walls need to be so thick to bring the glass to the required temperature - so god knows how many firings he needed to run to make this chandelier at 23 minutes for every two chandelier drops! Also, not so green - about 8Kg of CO2 emissions... 😳

You absolutely cannot melt glass in a microwave. It requires at least 2500° fahrenheit and way more than 23 minutes. I don't understand why the mictowave is needed, but it isn't to melt the scrap glass into the mold.

Too bad the horrible #D printed parts bring down the quality. Hopefully he can sell his art and get a better 3D printer.
