Thanks for showing the "Correct" way. Nearly all other videos I've watched on how to cut glass show some bad technique or mistake. Your was the best so far. :)

I am a journeyman glazier. You explained glass cutting better than most videos I have seen. Mirror is a delicate material which needs special care when cutting and handling. Thank you!

Originally a glass cutter, Guy found he had the incredible ability to turn himself blue on command and founded the "Blue Guy Team." This later became the Blue Man Group as we know and love today. 😉

I am a modest fellow so I did not want to make a big deal about the Blue Man Group, thanks

Great instruction. I had great success cutting a 1/4 mirror! Thank you so much! Breaking out the score with your fingers worked better than a yardstick.

Great thanks. Shame this video showed up so far down in the KZbin search as I had to sit through about 20 other sub par videos before finding a real pros advice 👍

Hi, nice video. I will be cutting 3/16” thick beveled mirror. Can I cut the bevel the same way or will the bevel break unevenly?

hello, this is very helpful.Thanks for the video. I wanna ask something : I have a glass dining table with 1/4" and I want to cut it. However, I do not know which cutter i should buy. Do glass cutters come with different glass-thickness purpose (for example, one glass cutter is for 0.3 mm and the other one is for 0.6 mm, etc.)? sorry for my bad english. I hope u understand what I ask. Thank you

This was very helpful only question I have is there better glass cutters or is it the technique mostly that creates good cuts?
@Americanglassandmirror7 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it helpful, Penny. For non-professionals, most glass cutters are created equally. A $6 Fletcher glass cutter from your local hardware store should fit the bill for the hobbiest or infrequent user. If you are going to be using it quite regularly, then you might consider buying a pen style cutter from CR Laurence or Bohle in the $30 range. That's what most of my guys use, although I'm old school and stick with the green Fletchers since that is what I cut my teeth on.

Is there a certain grit of sandpaper that should be used for the edges? I assume the finer the better?
@benjaminselinske99924 жыл бұрын
That's exactly right. 220 would be ideal.

Wow, I called a glass place, asked how much to cut the mirror down, they said $30 an inch! Then I decided to look on here! thanks

That's rediculous!! The place I worked at would have done it for a couple bucks total. Probably for free it you were a regular customer.

I placed a 1/4" mirror on a angle grinder fitted with a sanding disk. Worst finish ever. As I went around the corners literally chunks and globs were flying off, yes small globs just flying off.

How to break off a smaller piece of the side, about 2 inches wide? I feel it is hard to apply an even pressure with hand on both side. It is a large sizer mirror and I just want to cut it short. I didnot find a good video to show the tricks. Mose cut is through the middle, or using a small piece for demo. To cut a small piece from a large thick mirror is what I am looking for. Thanks!

That can be difficult. You can take your glass cutter and tap under the score to start the run. I like to start in the middle and work to the sides

What about 1/2 " glass same way or change ???
@Americanglassandmirror5 жыл бұрын
1/2" glass is more difficult to cut. The thickness makes it hard to run the score. Plus it almost always has to be polished after because the edge is not very smooth. Good luck!
