Extraordinary! There's something uniquely captivating about the design and endless color variation of antiquated fishing floats. It would be a valuable opportunity to see this gentlemen's collection up close and hear his captivating story of collection first hand.

Very cool. I was once on the lookout for fishing floats for a movie that needed them as props. We soon learned that they fetch a lot more money than we had in the budget. They're really cool.

We found one on the Oregon Coast that has water in it, many years ago. The water is still in it. How did the water there? Any ideas? Betty from Canada

It was underwater for a long time and pressure seeps the water into the float thru the glass. Super rare!

It's surprising that he collects those ugly plastic and wood floats as well. The glass orbs are so cool, the others so comparatively trashy. Loved the music, too.

I have viewed your video because just today I found a large glass float. I know little about them. This one is about 10" in diameter and appears to be clear glass. However, it is covered with calcification, barnacles, a little sea weed, etc. My question is how does one clean one of these so it can be inspected. I don't want to damage or scratch the glass. You can reply to my post or email me at bobbroten@gmail.com Anything or comments you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I found it along the central florida east coast.

Hi, the slow way is with a mild acid like vinagar. Let it soak in the vinegar an hour or so and the old calcium deposits come right off. The fast way is with 50 50 water and pool acid. Paint it on, it resolves the calcium quickly. Use gloves out side in a breeze. If the net is still present, flush with lots of water afterwards. It is a good idea to test a small area first.

Thank you. At one time I had nearly 3,000 glass floats. My favorite was a CCCP NWG. NW Glass float made for Soviet fishermen after ww2. My seconds favorites ones were nearly 250 double floats in a fisherman's pile in extreme NE China. Almost all were Dark Green. I had floats from all over the Far East from The Aleutians down and around to Pakistain. Also the Bahamas and a few European Countries. The Floats from India were cool and hard to find. The Rollers were nice also. The Japanese floats were the best marked as were many European ones. The double floats have gone back up in value after I sold off my double floats. A couple West coast USA buyers bought most of mine.
