A cover is not trying to "fix" the original, it's simply paying tribute. I think it's fantastic, it's powerful and fresh to listen to. Opeth is a good example, their covers are simply amazing tributes to some of rock's greatest songs.

Most excellent. Naysayers will say what they want... and need not apply. As an aside, I like Joe Cocker's interpretation of the Beatles' music, too. To hear the original, dial up Yes. @HasinaiMan Жыл бұрын
Michael Beerbados, wow, way to bring the hate. I have some unfortunate news for you, life is ephemeral, constantly changing. YES has had so many different lineups it’s a fool’s errand to attempt to pigeonhole the entity that is YES into one discrete monolithic categorization. Why not just enjoy music that appeals to you without the need to disparage or cast aspersions on those who, of good faith and heart, pay tribute to or emulate the originators of the music by performing it live decades and centuries after it was created? IMHO I whole heartedly believe life would suck without live music, and without musicians/players, vocalists and song writers there’d be no live music, it’s a cohesive whole dependent on the constituent individual parts. Like life, enjoy it while you can, while it lasts, in any way shape or form you can get it.

I actually kind of like it. The verse sections are really restrained and that adds to the tension. I still prefer the original, mainly because Howe's guitar playing absolutely tears it up and it's about as bombastic as prog gets. It's a terrific song regardless.

It's OK...if you enjoy sequenced drums and super-processed, over-distorted neo-Van Halen guitar sounds. Could have been good, but the blockheads today don't know how to create music without the over-use of technology. Hint: if a machine does the work, it sounds like A MACHINE. The human touch is missing. (The middle section [la la la part] is a dead-nuts copy of the original...except they have the ever-present chorus taking all the character out of the vocals.) Oh well, nice try.
