Pebeo Vitrail is solvent based. Pebeo says do not bake things painted with Vitrail. The mineral spirits you used for cleaning the brush had a 'WARNING' on the bottle stating that the fumes are harmful. It may not have an odor like turpentine, but it still emits toxic fumes. On mugs or drinking glasses, there should be no paint at the top of the glass where a person would put their mouth to drink. Pebeo Vitrea 160 is water based & can be baked. Put painted items in cold oven. Turn on oven to 160*C/325*F. Bake for 40minutes. Turn off oven & do not remove items from oven until they have returned to room temperature.

Can I use any glass, or does it have to be oven safe. Because a lot of jars do not say if it's oven safe.

Is Vitrail ink the same as epoxy resin ink? Is it okay to shake the bottle?

I don't think it is the same, but I'm not 100% sure. I only use Pebeo Vitrail on glass. I have not tired it with epoxy resin.

Thank you! If I am painting wine glasses or something where food/drink would be served in then yes, I would heat set it. For this, set your oven to 225 F and place the glass item directly in the oven at room temperature. Let the oven warm up with the glass painted item in it. Bake for 15 minutes. Once done, let the oven cool completely before removing the glass painted item. You don't need to add the crackle effect - that step is optional.

Hello Zarah - because these are decorative pieces, I did not bake them. The gold outline still hardens even if not baked. However, baking on a low heat for about 15 minutes is a good way to make the paint colors and outliner permanent.

Hi Leah - I've only used the Pebeo brand relief outliner and I've had no problems with them. Here is another brand that you might want to try: Frida Relief Outliner. I've never used that brand, so I can't comment on it. I don't think this brand has the metallic colors though (like gold and silver, which is what I prefer to use). Hi Dianne, glad you liked this video! For jars that I'm using for functional use, like storage for art supplies, I usually do not bake or heat set them. If I'm painting wine glasses or something where food/drink would be placed in, then I would heat set it. For that, set your oven to 225 F and place the glass item in the oven while at room temperature (let oven warm up with the painted glass item in it). Bake for 15 minutes. Once done, let the oven cool completely before removing the glass art work from the oven. Hope this helps!

Once it is heat set, you can wash it - however I don't recommend using the dishwasher. Hand wash only!

Is there a difference between the vitrea and vitrail? Glass paints pebeo?

Yes there is a difference! Pebeo Vitrea 160 is water based - which means your paint brush can be cleaned with water. This paint is transparent but it does give more of a fused glass look. Pebeo Vitrail is solvent based - which means you have to clean your paint brush with mineral spirit or some solvent cleaner. These paints are very transparent and give more of a stained glass look..

Sympa ce tutoriel ! En France y compris chez le fabricant on ressent le fait que les loisirs créatifs ne sont pas assez mis en avant ! Et pourtant avec les couleurs vitrail on peut faire beaucoup de choses. Il y aurait de quoi changer les mentalités chez nous pour que les loisirs créatifs pour adultes soient reconnus et que ce ne soit pas assimilé à des activités pour enfants ! Notons que c'est fort utile pour les décorations de Noël ou pour la Home déco !
