@@kotohlee143tbh, as a digital artist, I like drawing on one layer sometimes to give my art some depth. I’ve been experimenting with a “digital painting” method where I color under my sketch and then merge the layers to continue rendering over the sketch lines

This skill is relatively easy to learn once you've memorized form and anatomy! Sketches will always be beneficial and should be a step within someone's art but if you'd prefer to do this then you absolutely can. Memorizing the desired subject (a person's face in this scenario) is the key to drawing straight forward without a sketch - it's also key to drawing alot faster as error and repetition takes up the majority of drawing alot of the time. Absolutely not downplaying this artist's work at all or saying it's simple, this is very impressive!! Just hoping an artist may read this and realize they too can do the same.

It takes me days to draw a piece with a reference photo but you’re able to make something completely original with INK! But it is probably because I’m a beginner and I’m only in an 8th grade art class which has actually taught me a lot and I’m much better at drawing now! For now, time is on your side, so what matters now is that you take the time to learn drawing through understanding the fundamentals, but also drawing fan art also helps too build your mental library whenever you want to create somthing new. But usually the key is utilizing as many refrences as possible for the sake of learning, to get started on drawing portraits I would highly recommend angelganev, then later on Scott Harris for drawing bodies, and perspective.

I’d also recommend starting to sketch/draw straight with ink and pen. If you mess up, so what? Go with it, or make it again. You can always do it again. A sketchbook is where you’re meant to mess up, so mess up. Ink really does wonders with training your eye and confidence with lines and pieces in general. The confidence comes with the action, not before.

If you wanna look at some of the fundamental art books that professionals use, look up the Loomis books. The Internet Archive should have them online for free, or your local library might have them. If they don’t, you can always request it.
