Yeah I think you'd lose that awesome mini-universe effect with just another lens, but those are really really cool! Thank you for sharing!!!

Here is a simple solution: project it on a wall as you are doing in video. Use a HD Projection Camcorder to capture image and project it. Might have to rig up camera to do it live, but it might work. I sure hope you come to Chicago on your next tour!

What happens if you play with them with mirrors? Bounce and focus light off of mirror, refract light with multiple mirrors that go through it, run the light through it, then off a mirror(s) onto a wall. Into water? Through water? Focus the light into a small part, make the light broader and stronger onto a larger area. Fantastic art work, amazing works upon the wall. I want to start an exclusive art studio that plays with color and light works from multiple artists from all over, I will keep you on my list of contacts.

Do you know the name of the effect that the lens is creating? It is beautiful. I've seen those in the sky before.. splinters

What about filming this in a smaller Version an then resize it digitally play it as a hd movie (via projector)?

When the light comes out of the sculpture the angles of the rays are all random. So I reckon in order for you to project it, you need to consolidate their direction. And then it'll project infinitely (I think). Projecting onto a diffusing plate 1 foot from the sculpture would produce the image on the wall (the1stmikec), and then you could use the principles of a pinpoint projector to consolidate the ray direction (couldn't find any diagrams online: puu.sh/6u7Ql.jpg ). The problem with this method is a huge amount of the light intensity is lost when you diffuse the light around the pinhole box. If I were you I'd google for the nerdiest lens or optic forum you can find and ask there.

The problem here is brightness, and details like building the thing. But maybe this is inspiration for somebody else?

SteamyShiner Of course you could replace the whole right hand side of the box with a camera and digital projector (a la the1stmikec ). But that's cheating.
