Imported Hotel Dusk's sequel from Britain. Hotel Dusk being an under-rated DS gem, with incredible writing. speaking of neat Capcom series that never caught on in the west, have you ever played Sengoku Basara? might be up your alley. imagine a Warriors game, but... where the characters actually each have their own unique moveset, combos, cancels and learning curves. for example, one character in the most recent one has her eight basic attacks, each of which can be animation canceled by using another attack, which results in a new attack based on both what you canceled and what you canceled with. it's gooooood shit

Love the setting and atmosphere. The event triggers can go stuff themselves, it's utterly nonsensical! After the kid Hideya (the hint boy) disappears from the story, I had to resort to a walkthrough, since what you need to do, and in what order, oftentimes made no sense. And the trigger for which ending you can get is also kinda bollocks. I got locked out of the perfect and good endings due to one late game choice I didn't really knew I made in the first place. But I persevered, and I don't think I regret seeing it through to the end. As I said, I loved the setting and atmosphere and the voiceacting is bad, but in a fun way (Denemon sounds like a ghost Plinkett). Can't recommend it. Loved it. Never gonna touch it again in my life.

I hate to be that guy, but I don't think we should be jumping on the "CAPCOM IS BACK BAYBEE" bandwagon just yet. MM11, MHW, REmake 2 and DMC5 are all good games, but those games all have a shit-ton of history to build off of. When I think about classic Capcom, I think about their games that revolutionized genres, series that cemented themselves as instant classics, and all kinds of crazy and inventive one-offs like Killer7. They put out so many new and original IPs back in the day, and it seems like almost all of them were pure gold. Capcom's absolutely going in the right direction, but I think everyone calling it a renaissance is jumping the gun a bit, considering all they've done so far is not horribly mishandle some of their franchises again after nearly a decade.
