I don't think that extreme fall damage is caused by bad game design, you are playing at a high FPS, probably something that exceeds the intended one the engine is tied to. That also explains those weird twitches on jigglebones such as Strangers coat.
@benhillman83845 жыл бұрын
You're probably right about the fall damage, but stranger's coat always looked like he was hiding a bag of angry ferrets under there.
@samz86915 жыл бұрын
Yes Stranger does take ALOT of fall damage but even in my experience (Where I DID limit the FPS, which fixes the coat.) he didn't take THAT much fall damage.Granted the different is not much but it is more.Also sure it's responsible for jumping moving that fast since I don't recall it being that fast?

One thing I love about the characters in this game is they are played naturally. Like in the first story writers could easily make Stranger constantly talk about how he doesn't trust Svetlana. Instead Stranger deals with working with her in a professional manner and plays it cool. I feel like there is a lot of potential for a game set in a world filled with many different dangers like demons, ghosts, eldrich horrors and aliens, instead we get zombie/mutant games all the time with a focus on one type of monster throughout whole story.

BloodRayne is a spiritual successor to Nocturne and the titular Rayne is voiced by Laura Bailey. Even at the age of 28, this game still gives me the chills. Just recently downloaded it and it still creeps me out at a few moments. I never played it as a kid, my father and brother played it more. I’m more familiar with the first two acts, a bit familiar with act three, but I dont think they ever got to the forth act or far into it. The first act is probably the best, as it features everything classic horror movie fans would enjoy, from the settings to the monsters. The second act has a great start with the werewolves on the train and the zombies in the western town, but I feel like bug creatures just makes the game go from horror to sci-fi. The last two I have very little understand of, other than three taking place in Chicago and having to reanimating corpses and four having to do with some psychopath locking Stranger up in a house with monsters.

I wish the devs of Nocturne were still around making these kinds of games. I remember seeing it when I was little, the church being a refuge for a zombie outbreak in some dark, dreary village. No. Instead there was a sequel in the works and the higher ups shifted it from being about the Stranger main protagonist to being about the sexy sidekick vampire character...Rayne, effectively starting the Bloodrayne games.
@WarlockX45 жыл бұрын

I tried playing it again years later on vista I think and the glitching was insane and i honestly think it somehow made ladders in some areas unusable. Great video and makes me miss the idea of a sequel but no desire to try to boot it up again. I actually forgot it had that first person view i never used it in game. In my opinion, making a comparison between Silent Hill and Nocturne makes no sense. It's like comparing apples with oranges. First of all, Nocturne is no survival horror, no matter what some may claim. It's an action-adventure game with a horror theme. Just like Bloodrayne. Both games share the same DNA, even though Bloodrayne has more frantic action than Nocturne. Nocturne's combat mechanics weren't janky on purpose, like it's done sometimes in survival-horror. The whole game is janky, not only the combat. They tried a lot of revolutionary ideas with Nocturne, unfortunately didn't come out as the developer wanted. It was quite impossible to achieve all their goals in 1998-1999. They improved that once Bloodrayne came out in 2002. Silent Hill, on the other hand, is a survival-horror game, is slow paced and it's all about terrifying the player on a psychological level, with very little action/combat involved. That's why Silent Hill's combat is so slow, you're supposed to be terrified by what you can't see and not what you see. And when you do see something, you should run for dear life, survive not fight, unless you have no other choice. So, you can't compare Silent Hill with Nocturne, even if they're both horror games. I love them both, and I'm glad to see when someone gives some love to Nocturne in particular, and PC games in general. And for that, thank you and congrats for the video.

I’ve actually started writing a story inspired by Nocturne, Bloodrayne, house of the dead, resident evil, nightmare creatures and other 90’s and early 2000’s horror movies and games. It follows the experiences of several agents working for a monster hunting organization and the very horrible creatures and nightmarish scenarios they find themselves in ranging from natural monster conflicts, missing people, man made and caused monsters and anomalies, government experimentations gone wild, mutations and various other horror scenarios. Several agents themselves are monsters ranging from vampires, werewolves, changelings, lizard people and various others.
@shanelogan63011 ай бұрын
If anybody wants or knows game developers I haven’t finished each story but I know the direction each goes in. I’ve also got a range of characters and ideas as well as several monster scenarios ranging from parasites reawakened accidentally by vampires in the swamps of New Orleans, a military laboratory working on genetic weoponry of human insect hybrids gone wrong from a mad scientist, a facility overrun with mutated plants and insects, a situation where a cult finds real monsters known as wytches and in exchange for their ability to cure diseases and issues they require human sacrifices which the town provides, an incident in Ireland featuring insect like creatures that fall under the fae category of monsters wearing people’s skins, a situation with rat people in the sewers of L.A. devouring people turns out to be an issue related to lizard men, a string of bizarre murders caused by large giant like creatures, an incident in Hollywood where pornographic snuff films featuring bizarre vampiric like creatures require a dhampir’s and female vampires touch in stopping the films, as well as many more.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I am really sick of youtubers making comparisons to Silent Hill and the old Resi games. We get it, they were good, but that doesn't mean that Resi and Silent are the only 2 designs that work as horror nor does it mean that every shitty horror game need to have crappy controls, little to no combat or rusty fleshy environments. This game looks really interesting and it seems tense in the atmosphere department, but I rolled my eyes as soon as you started comparing it to Silent hill. Again, I don't mean this as an insult or anything. I am just frustrated by good youtubers who complain about these things (like score pn and avalanche). It's like the horror genre isn't allowed to develop or try new things beyond stiff controls and no combat.

I'm still a bit mad at the game. My PC was too slow for all the Nocturne's glamour, and it had already lost it all by the time I could afford a new one.
