This show is also objectively a textbook of how to make a good amine series. Each episode is carefully structured and paced, each tells a story and collectively they contribute to the narrative of the entire show. Each episode by each episode we form an attachment to the characters, and the ending wraps up the storey in a satisfying fashion. No many shows these days are able to do that

These girls were the fucking foundation of everything I always wanted to be. Beautiful art, cute girls, REAL CHARACTERS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL WITHOUT IT BEING SO FORCED. Ep 5 Gave me chills when it was revealed that Mari's friend (megumi) was trying to sabotage her from going to Antarctica because she was envious and wanted her to not grow out of the shell just because she herself couldn't get out. So relatable.

i have some ideas for OVA: 1. Gin and her team's daily life in Antarctica after the girls left - some of the science experiments and studies that they conduct 2. Megumi's journey in Arctic - how she came on terms with Mari becoming independent from her 3. Yuzuki, Hinata, Shirase and Mari's finished full length documentary 4. Yuzuki, Hinata, Shirase and Mari's stay in Freemantle, Australia - kind of a tourism-bait episode, highlighting the must-see places and must-eat food, just like the Singapore episode . . hope this reaches MadHouse

Add what happened after the 4 girls returned home, and perhaps the 4 and Megumi (who owes Shirase an apology for almost ruining the Antarctica plans) going on another trip together and seeing how their relationships are holding up...perhaps accompanying Yuzuki during an on-location movie filming and finding adventure.

Same for me. For about 9-10 years, my top 1-2 were always Toradora and Clannad Afterstory. I felt a few others came close, like Anohana for example. After my first watch of this series, I initially placed it in my top 5. Recently, however, I had been thinking about this series more and more. After rewatching it again, I begin to pick up on a whole bunch of things I had missed previously, and then I realize how amazingly well-crafted the series was, and I also realized that many of the emotional scenes hit me a lot harder than Toradora and Clannad Afterstory did. It hits at such a raw human level that majority of people could relate to. It is now my favourite of all time.

What a heartwarming review!! With me, personally, the issue that I had with this series is that I was forced to binge the entire thing in one day. I didn't enjoy it but had no choice. I was at college and every single day I was working on homework an insane amount of hours. Saturday was the only day that I had off. I had no choice but to watch the entire thing in one day, because Sunday meant doing 13 hours of Russian history homework. And that also meant that I had no one to share it with. I do wish that I had had someone to share it with or that I could have taken my time with it. Never the less I really, really enjoyed the series, and the last episode made me cry. I really loved how well defined the individual characters were.

I was one of those that typically avoided the "cute girls do cute things" type of anime. I watched a couple before and found them boring. But this show caught my attention with the "Antarctica" theme, and wondered what made these characters want to venture out. Watching the first few episodes, I was hooked. I actually related to the mc, I felt that desire to travel in high school. I used to think of the possible interactions and friends I'd have if I traveled. The show really played at my feels haha. Then the interactions between the characters and the characters themselves were good as well. (meh on Shirasa, don't like her don't hate her. Do admire her for the hard work she put in and problems she went through). And the group dynamic didn't seem fake throughout. The challenges they faced to get on the trip and with themselves felt real as well. And every episode lit up the "adventurer" side within me that actually, for a very slight moment, made me regret going to college instead of taking a gap year to travel. Bravo to the show, unexpected gem, would highly recommend.

Just finished it 5 minutes ago, episode 12 really gave me the feels and the final 10 minutes made me feel warm and fuzzy since it ends beautifully. Been awhile since i had that feeling, thanks for recommending the series.

Woah what? This show only came out in 2018? I could have sworn it was older. It's already settled into that category of all-time classics in the back of my mind.

This show was amazing. Mai not wearing the Bunny Girl outfit enough is my only problem with that show. Violet Evergarden ripped into me way harder than it should have. Yuru-Camp was perfect. I happen to be a 40 year old guy who have seen maybe a dozen anime so far.

I had more fun watching this than I have anything in a long time. I've actually always wanted to go to Antarctica so when I heard some cute girls were doing it I was like fuck yeah! Had no idea it would be such a ride on the feels train. It made me want to just go out and go

I saw this anime in your best of 2018 list and gave it a shot, despite not initially thinking it would be interesting. But I watched it just because of how you described it and i was so happy that i did, and now im coming back for this video haha

Friendship is right, oh God. I don't think I've ever seen an anime display friendship as beautifully as this anime did since Kids on the Slope, and in my opinion it did friendship even better than that. It made me realize how few anime there actually are out there that really focus on this theme in such a pure way, with not a hint of romance or yuri-baiting in sight. Just real girls and their real struggles and very real relationships.

That is my personal anime of the year - and it entered into my all time Top 5. After I disagreed with a few of your videos this week it's nice to see that those were apparently flukes :-)

A Place Further Than The Universe is the only anime that made me cry multiple times.

I'll be honest. The end of each episode left me crying, despite my best attempts not to.

at first I tried to avoid this show, but now it's my go to place when I need something light/heartwarming and kind in my life.

Enjoyed the series much. Would love to see a sequel or follow up movie on what happened after they returned home, what the Antarctica exploration crew are doing, and perhaps the 4 girls plus Megumi, the girl left behind, all taking another holiday trip to another destination together to see how their relationships are holding up.

I hope this show never gets a second season. I love this show so much, but everything it stands for it completes. If it got a second season it would undermine what made the show so good.

Thanks for this review! This anime was the absolute best of the year for me and one of the best I have ever watched. I love the poster on the wall, by the way!

You know, the Singapore episode made me think that Madhouse had a tie in with Singapore Tourism Board. All of us here managed to pinpoint all the exact locations and also the angles where the camera is shot from.

Even though i'm only one second into the video, i already know what i want to say: You took your time, but it was worth it! Now i'm just hoping for a certified frosty after i finished the video Edit: huh, guess you don't do ratings anymore whoops... Anyway. Wow! I didn't expect so much enthusiasm on your side, but i guess this just shows how good sora yori really is. I applauded at the end of the video and i also applauded at the end of the series, so yeah, this was satisfying to watch. I really need to give this show another watch, even though i know that it will make me feel extremely good, but also extremely depressed and in self loath, as a show about teenage girls doing more in a few months than you will most likely ever achieve in your whole life Does.

I never watched anime like this, I never thought it would be for me, I didn't hate them, but I didn't think they would be entertaining. I saw a different video on it, and it was enough for me to give it a shot. Boy was I wrong! I absolutely fell in love with this show! The characters and the journey they go on is incredible and it's now one of my favorite anime ever. If you're on the fence about this, do it! I'm definitely watching this again soon.
