@Vaughan Smith oh I am so happy! I did some chattering last year and then glazed, and it covered it up, lol. I learned my lesson, until I forget again.

My gosh Vaughn!! I am just loving everything! When I first saw the kids to the butter dishes it looked like the whale was diving into the top and the gray glaze makes it look like a splash of water from the diving whale!! Your creativity and artistic ability never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely beautiful!!!! I’d also like to ask you what brand of kiln stilts you use under your pots? I used mine in a cone 6 firing and they melted! Thanks

Hi, from neighbor from NB :D First time watching your video! :) Beautiful work, grate glazes! Love your lids on the canisters! Thank you for the idea, how to fire butter dish tops! Love to make them, but have such disappointment all the time, they warp as I fire them directly on the shelf (rim not glazed) Would appreciate very much if you let me know what kind of stilts you use. Thank you!

These are beautiful, as always, thanks for sharing. I believe that I’ve seen a video where you’ve shown how you grind down the bottoms of your pieces, do you have a video of how you grind the insides of curved pieces like your butter dish tops where the stilts create little spots? Do you use something like a dremel? Or a sanding sponge?
@Vsmithpots
@Vsmithpots Жыл бұрын
Dremmel works fine, I use a small hand held drill with a grinding attachment.

@@Ingefee I just hate using wax, it stinks when it burns off even with a vent a kiln. Once I went outside during the early part of a firing and I could smell it across the street. I just wondered what the neighbours were thinking I was doing, you never want to annoy your neighbours.

I’m about to buy my first kiln. I see you are using a Bailey. I live about half an hour away from them. Do you recommend theirs, over Skutt and L&L?
@Vsmithpots
@Vsmithpots Жыл бұрын
Since Bailey is so close I would go with them, better service availability. They are easy to repair and replace parts, which I show in a video later this month.

Do you have a video where you talk about how you sign your pots? If you've already discussed it, would you kindly point me towards it? For the life of me, I don't understand why canister's aren't more popular - who doesn't like a good lidded jar?!
