So glad to hear that the gallery is getting busier but sad that I won't get my weekly Sunday morning coffee break with Westcote Bell Pottery! Lovely glazing on the platters and mugs - you've inspired me to try a lot of new glazing combos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I really enjoyed seeing how you pour those bands of glaze. Last time you glazed ‘landscape’ plates we saw the backs of the plates, but you moved the camera. Thanks!

Aloha Vaughan, Thank you so much for this video. I really needed your inspiration today. Beautiful results in your glazing and fire. I do struggle with my glazing. I'm taking notes and hopefully will see some improvement for me in my next round of glazing. Again, thank you for your kindness and sharing.

The best way is to keep every piece that you love and note how you glazed it, second best is to photograph it close up with notes. Aloha back, are you in Hawaii?

I sure needed to see this opening. I enjoy them so much. You have such a diversity of colors and styles for all your work. I love your landscape platters. I tried that technique on a shallow serving type bowl. I only had access to the colors the studio has. It was not that pretty, lol. But it was good practice. My favorite platter of yours was the last one also. I am so glad you are taking precautions for Covid. I love businesses who still are. I seem to be the only one now at the studio I go to who still wears a mask.

I think I had Covid back in January 2020, I was sick for 7 weeks, all the Covid symptoms applied. They just did not call it Covid back then, it spread to all our neighbours too. So I am very cautious and wear masks every where. I have not been the same since then. Thanks for watching the videos and stay safe.

Greetings Vaughn. Lovely video. Great results on the firings. Platters are beautiful. A few questions for you - perhaps ideas for future videos: 1- When do you replace Kiln elements? Do you use extended firing times or number of firings as a guide? 2- Have you ever fired pieces on shells in your electric kilns? Hope you have a prosperous summer. Stay safe around all the tourists. 😷 Best regards.
@Vsmithpots2 жыл бұрын
I replace the elements as they break or if the kiln struggles to reach cone 6, not the best way since you lose a firing every so often, not the pots, just wasted electricity. The three zone kilns seem to compensate for an older element with less power. The shell thing means lots of grinding after the firing and my customers even question the little mark a stilt leaves. The tourists are a dilemma and that is a huge discussion. I study history and believe in learning from past situations as in 1917-21 which is quite worrying, so we wear masks and ask every one coming in the building to do so to. 95% do, it is Canada most people care about other Canadians.
