The window needed replacing either way right? So you've got a beautiful window with a terrific view and maybe no ice on top of the bath water 🤣. I like to think of you two warm and cozy and smiling with all the improvements you've completed.♥

This is very good news as I am about to have double glazing installed into my 300 year old French farm house.

Triple glazed windpws exist too. . Window companies offer them sometimes at no extra cost from double glazing. Triple glazed windows cut down on noise, wind and help with insulation

Thank you, will look into that for next time :)

It does take a lot of time filming when you just want to get stuck in to it. Good luck with your build :)

By far, double glaze windows are superior, for sure. Once you insulate the wall and ceiling, you will notice a vast improvement again. With the single glaze, you may as well run to the outhouse in all weather extremes. ❤

One week and we will have these problems!!!! Roll on our move to creuse! Are the windows easy to fit,we have one and a door to replace
@ourfrenchrenovation2 ай бұрын
Welcome to the Creuse! Yes, Extremely easy to fit. A doddle. We've done numerous ones now. Leroy Merlin for new ones or check the brocantes as the often have immaculate second hand ones in a ton of sizes. ReMaBat, Maximums, Reclaimation Yard etc... Just remember they are bigger than the size advertised on the web, so add a few centimeters.

Nice to see the difference in double glazed. That task seemed to go quite easily. Will you guys insulate the ceiling and stud wall before winter? What's on the other side of the bathroom stud wall - a bedroom?
@ourfrenchrenovation2 ай бұрын
We have a couple more jobs to do before we get to insulate the ceiling and stud wall, hopefully this side of Christmas though. Yes it's another bedroom but I have big plans for that room!

Great job and good info. Do you need a vent/fan in the bathroom?. I'm only asking because we'd always used just a de-humidifier [DHM] with the single glazing in winter and noticed a negative difference [mould spots] with the double glazing. It was too much trouble for us to go through the outer walls for a fan so a friend with the skill made a vent in the top of the new wood framed DG window [it was a surprisingly easy job]. We manage easily in the summer by opening the window and still use the DHM in the winter when we have a bath. We know a proper vent will do away with the DHM, we just haven't got around to it yet. Maybe [if required] you could rig a ceiling fan up when you do the new ceiling.
@ourfrenchrenovation2 ай бұрын
Yes we definitely need an extractor fan now, another job to add to the list lol. Will wheel our DHM in until we get round to the ceiling :)
