I am an encaustic artist, thinking of working with oils and cold wax. This was very encouraging. Watching you work this piece was like being in school for a year. I learned so much from seeing your skills hands and mind do their thing. Thank you! The painting is beautiful. This made me subscribe. Love your music choice!

Love this! I’m having a problem with gamsol. Too little paint? I normally am stingy, and may skip a day between paintings. Citruzolv isn’t working either to cut thru for under painting. May have just answered my own question, but maybe I’m missing something critical?

Thank you Darryl!! Remember you have to have just applied a fresh wet layer over the painting, then spritz, leave it several seconds, then lift it with your squeegee!It is truly trial and error, just keep trying it! All the best Darryl!!

@@LisaBBoardwineYour spritzes seem to apply droplets. The spray bottles I've tried push out a shower of Gamsol. Ive tried adjusting the nozzle to no avail. Any tips? Thanks.
@LisaBBoardwine4 жыл бұрын
@@janfox357 Jan, it takes the right spray/spritz bottle to get the best effect! I have tried many different ones! The one i am using now is from Sam's club. You don't want a flood or a mist quality, but one that gives you droplets! Hope this helps!

Marga, I always cover my panels with Gesso before I start painting with the oils/cold wax and the R&F oil pigment sticks. Thanks so much for watching my channel!!

What does spraying water on oil do?
@LisaBBoardwine3 жыл бұрын
Marylou, you never use water with oils, I am using the Gamsol, odorless mineral spirits in the spray bottle. It is made by Gamblin.

Concerned you're not using gloves. Some of the R&F sticks contain toxic pigments...also not great having solvents on your skin...increases uptake of pigments through the skin. Please take care so you can keep making such wonderful art.🙏🏼❤

Thank you for your concern. I do use a barrier cream on my hands plus I have checked with the paint manufacturers and they assured me that the molecules in todays paint are too large to pass through the pores of our skin. So unless you have an open cut or injury on your hands you should be ok, do be careful however with cadmiums. If you prefer to wear gloves please do, look out for your own health and well being first and foremost. I am also constantly cleaning my hands with wet wipes during my painting sessions. ❤️
