Kristen, thanks for watching! I clean them with wet wipes(wet ones) or with Gamsol on a cloth or paper towel. Pretty easy clean up!🎨

What do you put in the spritz?

The spritz is Gamsol-odorless mineral spirits. Made by Gamblin.

Why use cold wax? What's the purpose?
@LisaBBoardwine2 ай бұрын
Cold Wax makes your oil paints dry faster, it bulks up your paint and allow you to build many layers -so you can then excavate back down through those layers! So fun!!

Are those oil paints? And where is the Cold wax? Did you already mix it with the oil paint? If so, in what ratio?
@LisaBBoardwine2 ай бұрын
The cold wax is mixed in each color of oil paint on the palette. I use a 50:50 ratio of oil paint and cold wax. The wax makes the oil paint dry faster and bulks it up so you can do many layers and lots of terrific techniques with it! It also changes the oil paint to a matte finish. So fun!!

Where is the information about doing the actual foam transfer? It’s a beautiful piece but I didn’t learn anything that the title of the video intimated.
@LisaBBoardwine5 ай бұрын
This video shows several techniques but also how I use the soft foam squares and the R&F oil pigment sticks to do a transfer of marks and color onto the painting in progress. It begins at about 8:27 in the video. Thanks for watching!

How well does the gold leaf adhere to the cold wax over time?

Janet, it works great! Just use your cold wax under and over the gold leaf to set it in!!

Lovely work Lisa. Does Galkyd work the same way as Gamsol? Like when sprayed on?
@LisaBBoardwine5 ай бұрын
Jen, thank you!! Galkyd thins your paint, increases transparency, makes it dry faster and gives it a gloss. I don’t use Galkyd much anymore -but I love Gamsol! Gamsol is my favorite medium for techniques, cleaning tools and more!!

Beautiful how long to dry and do you varnish?
@LisaBBoardwine5 ай бұрын
Kathy, thanks!! Adding the cold wax makes the oil paint dry faster. Then it depends on the temperature and the humidity where you live. Also how thinly or thickly your layers are applied . But typically it dries in about 2-3 weeks. You do not have to varnish these oil and cold wax pieces but you can! You can use clear cold wax or GamVar/ a varnish from Gamblin.

Charlotte, some pieces I varnish and some I don’t. Depends on the piece. I use either clear cold wax or Gamblin’s GamVar. Hope this helps!🎨

So the varnish is actually wax? What happens if you just leave it? Will the colours bleach? I like the matte surface and don’t want to ruin it by varnishing.
