Nah, we're disappointed with Kurt personally because that's HIS opinion that's not treated as correct. All of the characters have their major flaws, and it's actually good, it makes them more realistic.

Why? The scene is showcasing a dialogue that people actually have, Kurt clearly isn’t educated on what bisexual is and he holds a view that a lot of gay people have. There’s nothing wrong with touching on a real life discussion.

It is kind of concern for those of us who are strictly gay. Maybe bisexual women are different. But a lot of bisexual men only seem to go to guys for sex, but very few want any romance or relationships because they have the ability to blend in and live somewhat "acceptable" lives.
@SnowdropWood5 жыл бұрын
@@kyleenglot9184 And there we go, a prime example of biphobia. Don't apply your extremely narrow personal experience to all bisexual men. Or even 'a lot' of them, do you know what kind of figure you're actually talking about? How many have you actually met and got to know? Someone else's sexuality is NONE of your 'concern' unless they're your own intimate partner. If you have a problem with their sexuality, it's your problem, not theirs. If your own experience is that every bisexual guy you meet only wants sex, has it ever occurred to you that you're looking in the wrong places or approaching the wrong people? Falling in love with/choosing to build a life with someone who happens to be the opposite sex does NOT mean a bisexual person is purposefully 'blending in'. Yes, some bisexual people do choose to live as a straight person for that reason, just as others on the LGBTQ+ spectrum have done throughout history, but by no means can that be applied as a general or broad rule.
@yun-pg8cr4 жыл бұрын
Bee being dismissive doesn’t help anybody, bi people have to stop acting like they are the ones with the most struggles (quantifying does nothing, understanding on the other hand). If it’s known it’s most likely experienced by more than 1 person. You’re policing without even reading what he said only to throw up that premashed speech.

Oh no! It's not like this show is portraying issues that real people face in real life! This thread is an example of something that kind of always pissed me off about this show's fans. How relate-able would this show have been if every character was absolutely perfect all of the good God dammed time? Every body has flaws. This one was Kurt's. FYI, it doesn't necessarily make him vile. And if it does, so what? How many of us haven't done something racist, homophobic, etc. even accidentally once in their entire lives? Raise your hands. It's just an unforgivable sin because you happen to hate the character. You hate Kurt's character for being clingy. So did you hate Blaine later on for cheating because Kurt didn't pick up a phone call? That's not clingy? Or is Blaine your little soft son that does nothing wrong? A lot of you probably admire Santana for being so real when, in honesty, she was an irredeemable bully who, along with Rachel, should have died in a fire. And we all know that being bi is a thing, Becky. We get it. You're bi.

@mlL3mas5 жыл бұрын
Because he was not bi. But I do not know, sometimes the writing is awkward.
@kyleenglot91845 жыл бұрын
If you want real hi representation the show would have ended up with Blaine choosing a girl over Kurt which happens every movie or TV show where a gay guy falls for a bi guy... Bisexual men in real life for the most part rarely pursue romantic relationships with other men, they usually have men on the side while they have girlfriends or a female love interest because it's the path of least resistance.

I love Kurt, but he was way out of line in this scene. He deserved 100% of what Blaine said to him. Being gay does not make it acceptable to be biphobic. It's being totally dismissive of something you don't understand. Thinking that you have a right to define the sexuality of others. Belittling others by telling them that they don't know their own mind or feelings. And are those things not the definition of homophobia? Isn't that precisely what the gay pride movement is against? I have seen some truly ignorant, bigoted comments from gay people about the rest of the rainbow, especially bi people, and that's not cool. Being gay is not an automatic halo, you're still responsible for being a good person.

Society has taken a turn in the last few decades where it’s become completely okay to shame people for being straight or talk about them as though they are somehow doing something wrong for not being more “fluid” or “open.” Now, I’m not saying that it’s all people, or that it somehow negates the homophobia (I’m specifically referring to the concept of people going out of their way to be hateful or mistreat Gays, not those who agree to disagree and still treat them like people) but it *is* a thing that exists outside the internet.

Ridiculous. And don't even get me started when a woman suddenly wants to pretend that I'm super gay when they feel even a smidgen of sexual tension between me and her. I understand both Kurt and Blaine in this video. Kurt looks up to Blaine and yes he was hurt. He really likes Blaine and he is afaird of Blaine being taken away from him. For Kurt, Blaine is the first gay person he has ever met, the only gay person he has ever met(besides Karofsky, but I'm not counting him). Kurt is scared of missing his chance of love. It's not the fact that Blaine is considering himself to be bi that bothers Kurt, it's the chance of losing him. Now for Blaine he is young and maybe confused. It's the same thing with me. He has the right to figure things out. It's a perfectly normal thing for teens to do. He has never dated anyone either, so he really doesn't know. If he wants to experience that's okay. I don't think either Blaine or Kurt should be attacked. Both boys are just trying to figure things out. There is going to be moments where they're confused or don't see eye to eye on the same thing. That's perfectly normal. Before judging someone take a moment to step inside their shoes. Take a moment to think about how they see the situation. Update: After rewatching this clip again after years my view has changed slightly. Kurt should have been more supportive of Blaine and he shouldn't have made him feel bad for being bi curious. I can see that Kurt was hurt and I think that he was upset that the person he liked might possibly go out with someone else and I think it made him especially upset that Blaine might have liked Rachael, but that doesn't excuse his behavior. That's nothing wrong with figuring yourself out. Some of my views of this show has changed with time.

It’s great that it’s showing Kurt acting like this? Why? Because it’s realistic a lot of my friends who were coming out were confused about their place in the LGBTQ+ community and felt they needed to be ‘all or nothing’ not realising later on that sexuality is fluid and not everything can be or should be labeled, we aren’t all automatically woke on the matter it takes time for us to learn, gain understanding perspective and eventually acceptance of things we don’t always understand. This is a very real portrayal of people struggling with there sexuality and those around them struggling to understand or come to terms their own.
@oof78054 жыл бұрын
I just hated this whole episode/plotline because of Rachel, Kurt, and Blaine. Kurt: don't get me wrong, I love the guy, he's my favorite character. and I understand that he was jealous and mad at Rachel and scared of losing Blaine (the first out gay guy he's met), I get that, but that doesn't justify his comment about bisexual people. I don't think he's biphobic, but that comment was just plain wrong and there's no sugarcoating that. Rachel: never liked her, though she IS talented. she knew Kurt liked Blaine, and pursued him anyway and even went as far as to say that no one cared about Kurt. she was just a shitty friend here. Blaine: comparing Kurt to Karofsky? the same dude who assaulted Kurt and threatened to kill him? no, just no. that was awful on so many levels, and like Kurt, I can see that he was upset and frustrated, but that doesn't justify what he said. these are just my opinions, though, please don't @ me if you're going to be rude.
@christinerios4453 жыл бұрын
A little late to the party here, but I think Blaine was well in the right. He didn't say Kurt was as bad as Karofsky or anything like that, he just simply pointed out that Kurt was doing the same thing at the core. Victims aren't exempt from being hypocrites, and it's worse when they are because they know how much it hurts, but are still willing to be someone else's bully. Karofsky was horrible, but Kurt's portrayed biphobia- whether or not it was that, as opposed to fear of losing the person he wanted to be with- isn't something to be sugar coated.

I wish they had made Blaine bi . This could have been such a great storyline with having Kurt realise and fucking apologies for what he said but no, Blaine’s just „confused“. Especially male bisexuals have to deal with so much shit from both straight and gay people, would have been good to have some positive representation. I’m sure this would have been handled differently now, ten years late, but glee was so ahead of their time in so many aspects, this could have been really nice.

Loving the biophibia from Kurt here. Typical gay guy ignoring bi guys. (I'm bi by the way)
@musicaltheatergeek796 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm gay myself, but biphobia is a real thing in the gay community. However, portraying it on the show is not the same as condoning it. I wish these other people would get that. If anything, it gets the ball rolling discussing it in the open. Pretending biphobia doesn't exist in the gay community just sweeps it under the rug.
@kyleenglot91845 жыл бұрын
Do you think gay men have no reason to be somewhat cautious with bi men? I mean it's not cool to be rude about it. But I think biphobia stems from gay guys seeing films and shows where the gay character falls for bisexual or bi-curious one and the bi guy chooses the girl because it's the path of least resistance.

I just have one thing to say: yes Kurt’s comment was a little biphobic and I was not proud of that but I think he was just jealous and scared of losing someone he cared about to Ms Rachel Berry who gets everything. Kurt built a connection with Blaine and out of nowhere Rachel swoops in and steals him. But yeah I agree he shouldn’t have said that (this is coming from a bi person so please don’t come at me, it’s just my opinion)

I don’t really want to defend Kurt here because he was clearly in the wrong but I’m saying that Kurt probably would be fine with him being bi if Blaine didn’t possibly like Rachel. I think Kurt may only have said that to try to convince Blaine not to go out with Rachel so he would have less competition. Again I’m not saying that Kurt was in the right at all. Also I wish Blaine was bi because it would be a better storyline.

To correct what Kurt said about why Karofsky was bullying and threatened to kill him (as Karofsky says himself in season 3) he hated the fact that he was gay and took it out on Kurt because he was clearly envious of how open and proud Kurt was to be who he is.

You’d be surprised how much antagonism that can exist within the LGBT community. Gays and lesbians who are biphobic or transphobic is unfortunately not uncommon at all.

neutral name But they need to realize that he SAID a biphobic thing, he isn't biphobic himself. And the only thing that made me angry was that this was so out of character for Blaine because the writers probably wanted drama between Klaine.
@msinformation916 жыл бұрын
They're hating Kurt because they hate Kurt. Period. And this just gives them a reason. Santana was biphobic, too, but way less people give her shit about it because she was so in love with Brittany and she just wanted to be with her one true love.
@inzaynklainer59105 жыл бұрын
neutral name Santana's said worse things about being gay despite being gay herself. When she did it everyone's like " Ohy gosh, I love Santana, she's so sassy" but when Kurt said it everyone's like " Oh my gosh , I hate Kurt, he's such a biphobe." What a nice hypocrisy! Way to go!

That scene was genuinely upsetting for a show that a) claimed to be so diverse and b) largely built their support on a wlw ship with a bisexual person. They at least should have properly resolved it and called Kurt out on it.
