I disagree. Mercedes didn’t help Puck. She told him to back off instead of at least telling him to fix the situation and tell the truth to his best friend whose life would’ve been ruined with a lie he shouldn’t have been involved in. She had no right to speak for Quinn when in truth she didn’t know the full story yet. The only reason Quinn kept Puck a secret was because she didn’t want the truth to be out. No doubt that Quinn loved Finn but it was messed up the way she did things. And Mercedes had no right to have a say of what Puck should do. Edit: also want to mention that Mercedes decision to tell Puck to back off for Quinn’s sake didn’t justify why she thought keeping it from Finn (her other friend) was a good idea.

Puck was seriously shorted in this storyline. He screwed up and did a crappy thing to his best friend, but it wasn't just out of selfish carelessness. He truly cared about Quinn. And he clearly cared about the baby. Nobody seemed to care about his feelings in this situation. Why Mercedes would tell him to back off is ridiculous. Quinn screwed up big time and it wasn't fair to Finn for her to put so much pressure on him and it wasn't fair to Puck to rob him of what is rightfully his.

Being a father means more than genetics (a mother too). In the end, this is why, though emotionally harrowing, Quinn's ultimate decision to give Beth up to adoption to a responsible trusted adult was the best decision overall. The REAL important being is the baby. In this, Quinn acted like a responsible mother by giving her baby to someone who was capable of raising her. Because, let's face it, babies have no business raising babies. Teenagers don't have the time, the financials (the relatively decent jobs require at least a BA nowadays or even HS diploma), the emotional maturity, or the life experience to make good parents even with help.

How many jobs are well paying enough for a family to survive off of without welfare (by survive, I mean that the basic necessities are covered) WITHOUT a BA nowadays (nevermind an HS diploma which is considered the basics)? NONE OF THEM should've raised a kid because they were children themselves. Get away from the emotional reaction and look at the practicals. On what income would they live off of? Even if Quinn and Puck both worked, non-HS diploma jobs pay very little that they'd need to be on food stamps and other forms of aid just to make ends-meet. Never mind the problems like where to live, how to pay rent, WHO will hire teenage drop outs with a kid etc.... Basically, it's a recipe for a shitty life for them and, most important of all, a shitty life for the kid.

If he's fine taking care of someone else's baby then whatever but he's completely being taken advantage of by not knowing the truth. Sure, no one owes Puck anything in this situation but he IS the biological father and he actually wanted to take care of the baby. Still, if Quinn didn't want him to be in the baby's life then fine because up until birth the baby and mom are treated as one entity (at least in med ethics) but it's not her place to shove the provider responsibility to Finn. I think Mercedes actually handled this very well. Sure, she’s protecting Quinn who cheated but this was none of her business in the first place, it only became her business when Puck admitted her was the father. It’s not her job to run and tell Finn, she told it straight to Puck without getting involved further which I respect.

Yeah, but the thing is, Mercedes didn't keep it to herself considering the fact she told the entire Glee club about it except for Finn and Rachel. Plus, Quinn was no victim in this, so there was no reason to protect her. It wasn't Quinn's decision if she wanted Finn to be father of her baby. She already made her decision when she slept with Puck. Even if it wasn't her job to tell Finn, but Mercedes is Finn's friend. I know if I found out my friend's girlfriend made him believe, he was the father of the baby when he really isn't, esp if he was 16. I would tell him, my mom always said a real friend will always the ugly truth, not pretty lies. Look at what happened at the end Finn found out the truth, he wasn't just mad at Quinn and Puck but at everyone who knew and decided to not tell him. If I was Finn I wouldn't cut them off my life.
