God ALMIGHTY, Glen Campbell was a great singer. Bobbie, beautiful and very talented.

This song captures perfectly the sweet, enduring love of a long married couple, the quiet joys of long time love that fill the daily lives of two people who adore each other, and stay together til they've had 50, 60 years & never part til death.
@bryanharrell4059 Жыл бұрын
So true. It's rare for that couple to make (5% make it 50 years- only 50% make it 15) and even more rare to have a song capture it.

Two of the most incredible artists who evidently adored each other. Their music lights up my heart. I miss Glen and so wish Bobbie was still recording. They were magic, like Nancy and Lee. Sheer class and heartwarming affection.

what a great show Glenn Campbell had in the late 60s and early 70s. He put country music into the main stream and gets very little credit for his contribution. Great show and ever greater talent.

Glenn was superhuman, or an Angel. He was handsome, well-built, nice and a gentleman, a terrific singer, composer and outstanding guitarist. Some folks - tools and A-holes - think he was hokey, or a “dumb hick,” but nothing could be further from the truth. Musicians know.

God, i didn’t know that these two recorded this song. I named my youngest daughter after Bobbie Gentry w/a minor change of the first letter. Me being an “R” so it was my daughter Robbie Jane born at the Presidio Letterman Army Hospital, San Francisco.

@@hohaia01 Well, someone like her who just wanted a quiet life would always have fake annoying people sent her way by the music industry to "inspire" her music or cause drama for celebrity gossip, and I'm sure that's how she ended up with three husbands that didn't work out. Hopefully she got to have a little peace later in life.

Glen Campbell. A real Southern Gentleman. Still looks like he was young enough there to have baby fat in his handsome face. He had a strong, smooth voice that was also perfectly mixed with gentleness. His guitar playing skills only improved with time. Excellent here already, though. Bobbie Gentry was such a talented singer, who greatly expressed a degree of sadness and longing in her voice. She was very popular in the late 1960's and early 1970's, but then she kind of disappeared off the musical radar. Too bad.

I don't think that was the case at all. Glen;s audio was probably tuned up more by the sound man or his microphone was positioned better than her's. If you listen to the studio version of their Little Green Apples duet the audio is more comparable on both, Glen never asked his duet partners to sing more softly than him, he didn't have that kind of an ego problem.
@carlosdeleon80682 ай бұрын
O. C. Smith 'owns' this song. Glen does a good job with It. I'm familiar with the music of Bobbie Gentry, but I don't think this a good duet.
