This is the very best rendition of Roy Orbison's 'Crying' that I've ever listened to, very moving...

My Dad owned a nightclub in Belen, New Mexico (just south of Albuquerque). He would often book a country and western band lead by Dick Bills ( a local well known preformer - he had his own TV show). He would often bring his nephew with him to preform - He was Glen Campbell. This was way before he became well known. You could tell then that this boy was going places. He was a good guy. I agree with Tom Fernandez: "One of the most underrated performers . . ." Of all times.

I know that it's been 10 years and no one will ever read this because this is a dead thread. But time is plentiful this morning. I came here from my love of Glen Campbell, one of the greatest performers and guitar players of all time(actually anything with strings; he even learned to play the bagpipes just to do a Scottish song written by Paul McCartney). But aside, it isn't often you run into a comment on KZbin from Belen New Mexico. Ironically, in fact extremely ironically I will be going to Belen tomorrow to see my father-in-law who turned 100 on January 5th 2024. I live in Albuquerque about 45 minutes away so I'll probably play some Glen Campbell on the way down and back. Cheers to everyone just in case anybody should ever read this. WELL!! What a Beautiful Version of this Classic Song, by Glen, I know Roy did it, also with K.D. Lang, but Glens version to me, is just as good, A Legend at his best, and thats not taking anything away from Roy and K. D. Lang, who were Superb and Legends, R.I.P. SIR'S.

He was hardly underated, ever heard of the wrecking crew?? He was THE most sought after guitar player - playing on more than 560 studio sessions in a single year. From one year to the next he went from earning a 4 figure salary to a 6 figure salary.

Yes, I 'd have to agree that Roy's version will never be topped.... it's the DEFINitive version. He pretty much OWNS this tune. That said, Glen does a very nice job here.. his voice has a vulnerability that is really great . Bit WHy ot WHY did ya cut it off b4 that last triumphant note ?!?!? That is the best part of the tune!!! shame.
