Took me a while to REALLY appreciate Johnny Cash, but liked Glen Campbell a lot since I was a young boy back in Scotland. Recently been listening/watching more Johnny Cash here on KZbin. This is just short, clean and perfectly perfromed by both. Big thumbs up to JC-GC and your tiny state of Arkansas. Right now I'm next door in the far from tiny Texas :)

And you had Levon Helm also.
@shimmeringfairydust32753 жыл бұрын
@@mitchkenvin259 oh, geez, how could I forget about him? Thanks for the reminder. A fine actor, too. I’m still unsure if Elton John’s “Levon” was about him. At best, I think Elton and Bernie liked the name and just appropriated it for the song. I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention the Silver Fox, Charlie Rich or the amazing Johnny Taylor, both of whom were Arkansans.
@shimmeringfairydust32753 жыл бұрын
@@thomasdoughty9639 I live in Texas also (and I love Scotland - so many wonderful musicians). Texas has about a million well known artists in all areas, so Arkansas values what or who it has. Bill Clinton certainly wasn’t perfect, but he was a pretty good president - budget surplus, no wars and other good things. The Lewinsky mess was sheer idiocy on his part, but I blame Linda Tripp, a total waste of protoplasm, for wasting $75 million of taxpayer dollars.

Why can't we have more music today that really tells a story, like this one? Not many songs today that have a real plot with descriptive lyrics...I miss the good music of yesterday.
@kennethhoneycutt2481 Жыл бұрын
I've been listening to Glen sing and play for over 50 years and didn't realize he could sing that low, what a range he had. Glen Campbell was one of the greatest talents of his day. He could have been just a great singer and sold millions of albums, but his guitar playing was fantastic, and he couldn't read music, but he could play anything by ear. Miss you Glen, but I know you were saved and are in Heaven, singing and playing in the Creator's band up yonder!

@BonnieHC06 I appreciate what you are saying. I know life in the former Yugoslavia has been turned upside down in the last 20 years. The thing is, the chaos and uncertainty of today which makes you wish for the "good ol' days" in Yugoslavia were really present in the United States back in the 1960s. The images on TV back then of war, riots, and assassinations left me frightened as a child and even I think a bit cynical about life as an adult. Having said all that, the music was superb!

@BonnieHC06 There was a lot to be happy about back then, including the music, which was absolutely fantastic. But the happy memories are at least partially overshadowed by the negative images. As much as I wish these types of happy images are all I remember from my childhood in the late 60s, I also remember soldiers dying in the fields of Vietnam, the cities burning, and RFK bleeding to death on the floor of the Ambassador Hotel. So much happiness, then so much sorrow.

These times were real cool.thats if you were not working yourself to death..Two men could have a problem and settle it quick without a gun.Mens heros were not the hulk or spiderman,but real men of America..Everybody knew their neighbor 6 blocks and beyond,now you wanna know whos making noise in the house next door at 3 in the morning..Music was written with pain and experience and jumping on trains from town to town..Getting caught drunk was bad enough,now the system wants you to remember that mistake for the rest of your life..Man do I love the old times....
