At 15 I wore out my 45 of Wichita Lineman I loved the song so much. Here I am at 70 and it still moves me. A beautiful song written by Jimmy Webb and sung perfectly by Glen Campbell. ❤

Derek and the domino's was actually Clapton going under a different name . The song was originally inspired by a piano piece written by jim gordon and Rita coleridge who were having a couple at the time . Unfortunately Rita never got credited for but gordon did . If you want to checkout more , check out Jim Gordon

Glenn did not know how to read music and yet played guitar and sang better than most vocalists who can read music.

Because he was such an excellent vocalist, Glen Campbell was an underrated guitarist ...... he was an exceptional lead guitarist.

@@reneleclerc6119 Those are mostly from hardcore Glen Campbell fans, who have knowledge about his career and his talents. To most people, Glen Campbell was an excellent singer who usually strummed chords on an acoustic guitar while he sang. Campbell himself occasionally played into this image, as he would sometimes throw his guitar behind his back after the first verse of a song, grab the microphone with his hands, and only sing for the second verse (such was the case when he played the song "Southern Nights" in concert.)

One thing l noticed is that the audience sat quiet and respectful to hear this lovely song. These days whenever someone sings the audience seems to yell and scream through the whole performance. Thanks to Glen Campbell for such a timeless classic.
