What I like most about seeing animators draw their characters is how you can just SEE the character from the outline, before any additional features are added.

I had the pleasure of working for Glen Keane on Over the Moon at Sony. I’m not in animation, but FX. And the highlight of every single day was watching this master of his craft direct the animation team with his draw-overs during the anim rounds. It was incredible to see his improvements come to life in real-time over each shot. And while the story turned out kind of bland, the animation was no doubt masterful in that film. Got an autograph with a picture of the beast he drew for me :) What a legend
