Looking at that great wall of whisky behind you, I doubt you will be going back to this one any time soon.

Dang it!! It took 2 years for this to get to my market and I paid $178 before tax this. Only 1 case came in and they just put it out. I should’ve waited until I watched reviews. F my damn luck. Anyway thanks for the super honest and thorough review.

Glenallachie is a top 3 for me lately. Love pretty much all they do. Especially the single cask expressions.

I appreciate you including price considerations. Always an important part of deciding to buy or not. Personally the 10 is my favorite

100%, yes the 10 seems to hit the spot for most people!! Cheers!

Great review buddy. I think there’s a distinct Glenallachie base that I personally really enjoy but I’ve met many that don’t. The longer these sit in the expensive casks Billy bought the further they get from what I like most about Glenallachie. Hopefully they find a way to maintain that distillery characteristic despite re-racking everything.

Thanks bud! Thats a legit point as the casks will start to take over more and more. Cheers !!

An 18 yr for $150 and a score of 84, I think I'll pass on this one also. Until Billy has time to work his magic, I will stick with the 10 yr CS. Great review.

I have to say that I really can not understand all the hype behind GlenAllachie. I have always found it to be pretty uninspiring and certainly with recent bottlings overly influenced by the sherry. The cask strength 10 batch 3 is probably the highlight offering for me.
@steveno70582 жыл бұрын
Pretty easy to see why its hyped. At least 46% ABV, non chill filtered, no added color, decent price and available. Alot of people love heavy Sherry maturation. What other 12 goes for $50? Or 10 cask strength for $70? That is also available???

So the 10CS, 12OB seem to be winners thus far. The real question is, once the investment pays off from the wine finishes (re-racking, top dressing) for Billie then it will be interesting to see what other magic is left in GA. Aside from 10CS, I wonder if there are any offerings out there or in the works that are straight from the acquired casks without the reengineering by the maestro.
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
Yes I am looking forward to that. Will be exciting to see what's to come in the coming years. Hope it delivers!!

Yeah the price is a bit steep. I think you guys should blind these against some similarly priced Glendronach, Tamdhu, Edradour, Glengoyne, and Mac. What's that bottle in between the Bunna and the Dewars?

Can you explain what you mean by ‘mineral note’. It’s a term that I just don’t understand. Cheers
@tjross13132 жыл бұрын
I know not many of us go walking around with river rocks in our mouth but if you've ever spent a lot of time by a freshwater river on a really beautiful day, or even at the seaside, there's a particular sensation that I relate from those experiences that equate to minerality. If you were to taste a river rock, it would have a drying effect, and there is a taste there. Can't say when I've ever done it, but we all know exactly what D means when he uses that term. Is it a slight (like .5%) chalkiness? Maybe hard to describe..
@squinugie20912 жыл бұрын
@@tjross1313 I think a good example of minerality is the aroma you get from an Oyster shell if you dial out the salt.
