Glendale Bulk Trash: Autocar WXLL / Heil PowerTrak Commercial

Back to more bulk trash in Glendale...
Here's another truck I've been after for a while. Or at least one of them. Glendale has a few of these older WXLL PowerTraks left and the crew closest to me took this and an ACX out for August's bulk runs in the north area. A few drivers I filmed prior in other trucks all told me they prefer the "older green trucks" because they're low entry, which really makes me wonder why they don't still buy low-entry as the drivers are in and out constantly. A matter of not wanting to pay extra, I'm sure.

That's a nice truck. Can't complain about the WXLL at all. Looks 10x better than the ACX does. Wish Autocar would bring back the WXLL. Packer on these trucks seem pretty fast too, always good for a bulk run lol Great video!

***** Yeah, they're really good trucks. The packer seems a bit faster than their newer ones, and of course they're low entry. It'd be cool if they bought low entry ACX for bulk, but whatever. Thanks for the comment!

legodude24652 Thanks! Definitely efficient with three man crews as there's never any downtime waiting for a truck to be emptied. Haha forgot Phoenix doesn't double side. Definitely works well for Glendale. Thanks for the comment!

Ah yes, that lovely sound and look of a WXLL. IMO, do those look good on everything. Very well kept, considering the truck must be on the verge of 10 years old or a bit newer. Really enjoyed this video. The WXLL 5000 combo is just amazing. What happens to all the green waste, just landfilled? Great work and wonderful quality man!

***** Glendale definitely kept these trucks nice over the years. Everything's landfilled. No market for greens. Avondale, Tempe, Goodyear, Tolleson and Buckeye dump their greens at a few family farms out in the far west valley for slightly less than the landfill tipping fees. But for Glendale I highly doubt the small difference could justify the cost of sending separate trucks for greens, and then somehow transporting it to a farm way out there. I believe a driver said they typically do 3-4 loads a day. Scottsdale does 5+ loads, and Salt-River Landfill separates greens from their bulk onsite.

San Jose uses a similar system, only ours has Heil Big Bites/Leach 2RIIs with hopper extensions, and CAT frontloaders with Tink Claws. Our piles are alot more tidy, and many houses (not all of them) also have an optional greens cart that is picked up manually using tippers on the sides of the hoppers (or if they're running behind, an Automizer or Rapid Rail is dispatched). And to top it off, our system is a two-man job: one for the truck, and one for the loader (I've called it the "tractor" my whole life, since the system has been used for as long as I can remember; haulers have changed, but Green Waste has stayed, and has used the same method).

Why not invest in a knuckleboom truck that way you only need one person instead of three? Much more efficient

wesbann Too much out and too much to do. I really only filmed the bigger piles. There's tons of smaller stops out where the tractor doesn't even stop. Also, they would fill it up too fast. Each crew fills up 4-5 loads a day, the drivers you see take turns running their two RLs to the landfill.
