I definitely have had an easier time figuring out the kargyraa voice than the khoomei sound. I suspect having already learned false-cord death growl helped with that, the learning curve was more in getting false and true cords to start up at the same time instead of switching between one or the other. Khoomei's been giving me a lot more of a challenge to find how to produce the sound and be able to do it even semi-consistently.

Hey alex, the whisper action finally made me get a good kargyyra sound for the first time properly in years. The way i used to do it was the same action as clearing the throat but this version seems to be much better as i could feel the reverberation in my larynx in the false vocal folds. I want to say thank you wholeheartedly from Scotland, ive been a subscriber since i found your 7 styles of overtone singing video and i have been enamoured with overtone and throat singing since 14 (im 32 now!) big love

Incredibly helpful, thanks for this tutorial. I've managed to make and hold all the sounds but never nailed a base to start with, so they become rather unpredictable and hard to reproduce in the same way. I am very interested in same of what your saying in this video and if you have time to answer a small question I would be appreciative. I have been self teaching myself for 6 months throat singing based of Tuvan styles. From what I watched I started with Kargyraa learning to breathe deeply out adding the clearing of the throat slowly moving to tighten the throat get the actual sound and so far sounds great. From what I watched its to do with activating the false vocal chords. Is this correct as around 15 minutes you say to start with Khoomei and move down to Kargyraa using the whisper, so far I have struggled to get khoomei too but haven't persisted yet because I'm continuing with Kargyraa? Would thank you for your answer :)
