Glenn's death was such a huge loss to music in general and Detroit in specific. Bob Seger tells stories about the two of them before/early stardom and both really make Detroit proud bc both achieved a respectable maturity and humility that's not easy to find. RIP Glenn.❤❤❤

I love how slow it is and how the band is even struggling a little bit with the tempo (seems like Will Lee wants to push it a bit faster than Frey wants to go) -- but eventually they settle into it. Really beautiful.

Frey's tempo is very uneven. The piano is the lead instrument and it makes it sound like he's right and the band's wrong, but it's the other way around.

there was a cat on the CB Radio back around 78 here, went by Desperado (from the song), pretty cool dude. always on the CB on weekend nights. miss those days, all the locals stayed connected like that. was great way to see what happening on Fri/Sat night, see where the parties were etc. we all hung out on 10 and 11. now it's just dead-air, ghost town. although the Skip does come in daily, sometimes at night, but that's it, no more local chatter. pretty sad ☮

This is so good! I also love the version done by their pal Linda Ronstadt. The key members of the Eagles were Linda; 's backup band and as opposed to holding them back, she convinced them to form their own band. Linda Ronstadt was beloved by apparently everyone she worked with and greatly respected for her tremendous talent and dedication to the work. Also, it is pretty heartwarming to watch Letterman's band LOVE this opportunity to play this song with this legend!

Yes. I was so lucky to catch Son Seals in a little bar on the beach just a couple of years before he died. By then he was a little wizened old guy, but he still performed like a power house. There were maybe 24, 36 people there. They should have been lined up out the door. Anyway, he sat on this stool and sang. He had a couple of kids backing him up. They were great musicians, and the looks on their faces for the whole show said, "Can you effing believe this? We're backing up Son Seals!" What a great show that was. ❤

For me, it's Somewhere Out There. An American Tail from the 80's. Ironically, also performed by the great Linda Ronstadt, and James Ingram. I had just divorced and had gone back to college full time. My kid was only five years old, but I had a good support system for him. I remember so clearly, driving home from a long day of classes, waiting to see my kid and giving him a big hug. He was waiting for me too. ❤

Clean-cut antics in the best Animal House tradition...ah, the old days. As the 1800's desperado called the Desperado life, it was 'wild adventure'. Never were truer words sung to tame the social 'desperado' in me in the seventies. As sung by Linda Ronstadt, aka the recriminatory feminine voice making solid points about the old me (some points anyway or maybe) the song Desperado made me finally do good, and actually be good, you'll be happy to hear.
