Isnt a bass trap more effective being mounted 4 inches of the wall (if its a 4 inch bass trap)?

I can't see both speakers on one wall. I can only see the left speaker on the right wall and the right speaker on the left wall. This video says that we can see both speakers on one wall if I got it right...

Start in the corner left corner behind the speaker and move it away from the front Wall. When you can see the element of the left speaker thats the first reflection point from your left speaker. Keep movin it until you see the element of your right speaker, thats the second reflection point of your right speaker. Then do the same procedure on your right Wall. If your speakers are close to the side walls the first reflection point is very close to the speaker.

I genuinely don’t understand the mirror trick. I do this and I feel like I can see the speaker the entire time. At no point do I not see the speaker in the mirror. Someone please help me out here.

Great practical video. Is there an ideal listening postion within the room (distance fromm front wall - mix editing position) and (distance from rear wall for vistors listening postion).

Every room is going to be different so you would need to test the room to find the best over-all location. I will say if the room is small you might want to start with the monitors close to the wall.

thing is , when im behind my monitors there is nothing there , what reflection ? Only when on high levels i can hear mids and highs behind my setup , but under normal conditions , there is nothing behind the line of my monitors that are positioned the same as on the video, why use bass traps and defusers , i cant here that bass here and there are no mids and highs behind ?

would this happen if you completely soundprrof the walls? if it's a perfect square room and it's soundproofed would you still have the echo?

Sound proofing is when you stop the sound from going through the walls so yes you still would have "echo". In fact, in a lot of cases when a room is soundproofed it has more reflections for a longer time (longer echos).

so does it make more sense just to get acoustic padding for a room then?i don't want to make a studio out of the room, i want to make a music room where i can get the most out of the sound...

ernst de waal Yes would would want absorption and diffusion on the walls. If the room is small then go with mostly absorption. If you go to gikacoustics.com you can view a bunch of other videos that talk about room acoustics. Look under the education area.

im having trouble understanding the mirror trick. I've been told this trick a few times and never understood it. so i sit in my mixing position in front of the computer - and i have a friend drag a mirror monitor heighth along the left and right wall. would i see the monitors from all angles of the wall?

Sound is not a laser beam to reflect off one spot. I guess it disperses, spreads, dissipates in a spheric shape starting from the source.
