This game's best (probably unintended) feature is the ability to keep crashing and bringing you back to the track. It allows you to literally just hold the gas be able to complete the race. It's the only video game my autistic brother has ever played and it still entertains him for hours to this day. Thank you for making this! I wish there were more like it.

Definitely USA. Pros +Most challenging by far, between the more narrow roads, actually having sharp turns, more on-coming traffic (little in World and Exotica) and spinning out when you bump into opponents (removed in Exotica) +Best music of the three easily (my opinion) +Cool how each paint job correlates to a specific upgrade, also how you know the top speed of the AI just by the make and color of their car +Can drive a school bus +Save your times for each race individually like in a real arcade game (not present in the other two) Cons -The worst looking graphically but people over-exaggerate this. None of them look like masterpieces.

I know this is a 9 year old video, but how do you compare move trilogies to videogames trilogies, especially from the arcade. Arcade games, racing and otherwise, usually never experiment and nearly always follow an evolution philosophy vs a revolution philosophy. This is not a bad thing as the originals typically are of high enough quality to be carbon copied a few times over, with minor changes.
@n64glennplant2 жыл бұрын
Interesting point. I guess with movie trilogies there’s normally a planned arc to set up future movies. With games there’s rarely that factor and normally a sequel or third entry are only put into production off the back of successful reviews/sales of the first game

Totally agree! Developers don't make games like this anymore! But there's a reason for that. Reviewers like IGN hated on games like this and Cruis'n World so much for being outdated that developers don't do this anymore. In fact, Nintendo originally published the first two games and by the time this one came out, Nintendo had sold the series to Midway because World didn't sell all that well and got less than stellar reviews. It's sad really, and I think we are all to blame for this.

I played the N64 version first. Borrowed it from my nephew, and I really enjoyed it! However, I have to say that it actually plays pretty different from the arcade version. I recently picked up an Exotica cabinet, and the graphics still look really good! The framerate rarely drops below 60, and the sound isn’t nearly as compressed as the N64 version. I prefer how the original arcade version feels to play, but that’s just personal preference.
@Victor_2000s Жыл бұрын
Arcade version its better in graphics, licensed vehicles, driver selection (which doesn't exist in N64 version), frame hate and audio quality. Sadly this version is hard to play due of the rarity of the machine and works with graphical bugs on MAME emulator.

The thing is, the N64 version looks and runs considerably inferior than the arcade version. I don't know for sure, but to me the arcade version seemed to be running at 60fps, or at least something smoother than just 30fps. Also, bigger car models, no pop-in and better textures. It was a considerable upgrade from USA and World in the arcade because it was a different more powerful cabinet, but looked basically the same on N64 as the other two because obviously, the 64 could not handle it. A dreamcast port or a later Gamecube port would have done justice to this...of course, it would only be good for fans of the arcade, otherwise, arcade racers on Consoles tend to be boring because they are not meant for extended play.
@n64glennplant3 жыл бұрын
Yup that’s right the n64 version doesn’t run like the arcade one…when the first cruisn came to n64 it was supposed to be an exact port and that’s why it got so many terrible reviews because what was promised was under delivered

The Cruis'n series is a guilty pleasure of mine and I did pick up both the first 2 at launch after playing USA a lot in the arcade. Whilst the N64 port of USA was....I'll say lousy but like you I still enjoy it in spite of itself....I do actually think Cruis'n World is a very fun, competent racer. I'd have bought this one at launch too, only they never released it here in Europe :( I've never gotten to play it thanks to idiots in suits and region locking. And it's a real shame as it looks like it's tweaked and improved the parts of Cruis'n World that I liked and I'm sure I'd have enjoyed this one as well.
