That’s exactly it. The personality and feel of the car does not come out when just looking at the numbers, but drive it and it becomes very obvious how special it is and how much attention Honda invested into every little detail. The first thing I thought when I drove one was “4 seater FWD GT3 with a hatch.” lol

Just recently sold my 19 STI after it spun a bearing. Needed a similar car with better gas mileage because my commute. Long story short, got into a FL5 type-R earlier this month. This car is not better than the STI there’s nothing better than that symmetrical AWD. I miss my STI so much, but maybe the type R will grow on me. I am enjoying the increase in MPG and reliability.

To my understanding championship white is the flagship colour for type r not red, but the red looks good nonetheless

Not 310 Nm of torque, but 310 lb ft, which is 420 Nm torque.

I’m sure someone will write a big comment arguing their point either way. Very crudely put both platforms appear/drive/feel similar. Which one you end up liking probably comes down to a few things and an opinion.

They changed the linkage - much stiffer than FK8 - centering spring is stronger too - clutch feels a little heavier as well Hardly the best box stock - the ACUITY shifter makes it much better so plenty of room for improvement in feel and engagement. FL5 has much lighter flywheel so better response and rev match vs FK8 as well
