Great video, as we have come to expect from you. I have been trying to master the Zerek Affinity swim baits. At first I thought the adjustable weights were a gimmick, but they do make a differenc on how the lure sits on the retrieve. Still a little shy on the long cast, with lures around the $ 50 mark. Certainly a big change from when we first started using the Curly tail plastics.

I run Decoy egg snaps size 3 without any problem, bomb proof but not cheap. For lighter gear chasing smaller Barra I go with 40lb Sunline Siglon onto 40lb FC Rock running Force Ten Size 3 snaps (Big W special). Have been rubbed off on the 40lb FC Rock but no drama with the cheap clips.

The finish on lures in the 2 to 3 years has become amazing. Thanks for the lesson John. keep up the great work. Do you prefer natural colours or do you think it doesn't matter because it's more about the action and how you 'work' the lure?

Great video John , I have used glide baits for cod but you have inspired me to have a crack at some big lizards , I remember seeing you on another video talking about the Zargana lure that looks like a garfish but I can't find it . I have ordered a couple of those lures in the 150mm and the 200mm , I believe they will be a cracking surface and subsurface lure on many species . Can you let me know if you have had any success on flatties and which video it was . Your channel is one of the best mate , keep up the good work .

I also remove the clips on all lures that come with it and tie the loop knot with Pline FC.

after it was skull dragged in on a incredibly heavy setup it was released.

As mentioned in this video he uses a 20 pound leader which is 9.07 kg. I’ve experienced big flathead wearing through a 12 kg leader in seconds and seen bream fisherman use the the same weight class leader around abrasive fish holding structure. The weight rating of the tackle used is to cast such heavy lures without them busting off during the cast. Also during that fight that fish took several good runs taking out 10 to 20 metres of line each time, most don’t consider that scull dragged. Finally scull dragging would be better for the fish anyway as it’s well known that it dramatically increases a fishes survival rate the faster you can get a fish in, measured and back in the water , which is really important for these large breeding female flathead that are catch and release only by Queensland law.
