Thanks for making a shorter video explaining this that I can commit to! 😄 I've never actually sat down and watched this fancy method you guys talk about frequently. Now that I understand it, I can say I have used this approach in the past & it's fancy stuff. Perfect explanation, keep it up!

Fantastic video (once more!). I hadn’t thought that this method would be snappier than using a separate table. Thanks I’m going to try an use this in my current app - which needs to be super responsive. Only thing is I need the log as well - so considering a combination of both methods. Don’t have many users / things so number of rows shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Thanks Bob!

Glad it was helpful! So many ways to accomplish the trebuchet method nowadays too.

Great video Robert ! What to do for a multiple selection that leads to a specific action (for example : select multiple users and then send a grouped email) ? In this case selection needs to be cleared just after the action is performed. However set multiple rows is not an available action.
@RobertPetittoWA

For this, I would use a choice component to select the users, which would then create a comma separated list of the email addresses, and then you can write that value to the to field of an email

@@RobertPetittoWA thanks but how to create a comma separated list if the choice is made on Firstname Lastname ? The comma separated list will be composed of Firstnames & Lastnames

Hi Robert! Really awesome video, It's so helpful. I just got a question: do you know if every time the array column it's updating in every row does it going to count every update on the app? I mean, if I have 200 rows, when the array column updates I'm going to have 200 updates in my quota ? Thanks again!
@RobertPetittoWA

Yes, it will count against your update quota. However, if you’re on one of Glide‘s new plans and you’re working only in Glide tables, then you won’t incur any updates.

Hey Robert, Can you make a video on conditional relations and a possible use case?

You could create the same logic with 2 columns instead of 4. For adding just use a template column where in "1,2" 1 is the current string and 2 is the user ID. For removing use a "replace all" column which will replace user ID in the necessary string with nothing. It potentially gives you unnecessary commas in the string, but it won't affect how it works plus who cares about the string looking not so good when you save 2 computed columns?

This could work too. I’m just a stickler about clean data

Thank you Robert! I am building an app for me and my friends with about 500 items everybody can rate on. One can select a subgroup via a password and see the average rating of the subgroup. I am on a Starter-Package with a limit of 5000 rows. Using a separate RatingLog table works, but I quickly run out of rows, which makes Glide almost unusable for me. With this method I see a maybe possible path converting a 5 star rating into 5 action-boxes. A bit cumbersome but ok. A commentary to the ratings probably won't be possible, though 🤔 I wish there would be an action in glide how one user could access other users user-specific-collumns like by knowing their E-Mail address. Anyway, thank you for your fantastic videos 😊

Yes Trebuchet method will certainly save you rows. However, there is no possibility of accessing user specific columns…they’re user specific for a reason 😅

Great Video! We are building a school app. If a student has 2 parent registered in the system, and a sibling joins the school. Can i use the trebuchet method to include sibling owning the student’s parent rows?
@RobertPetittoWA

Only one “parent row” per family? If so, yes.

This works perfectly for user relations. I have been trying to do the same thing for groups, similar to multiple wishlists where I can add multiple items to a list, ultimately a number of lists. Each list could have overlapping or duplicate items. How do I add the group ID to the array in the column “owners+mearray” instead of my ID?

I think I need to know more about what you’re trying to do. Please phrase your request in the following manner: Users have lists, lists have items, items can belong to multiple lists, I’m trying to use the trebuchet method to… Thanks!

@@RobertPetittoWA I think you nailed it; users have lists, lists have items, and items can belong to multiple lists; I'm trying to use the trebuchet method to dynamically manage the lists. The UI you presented in this video was perfect for me. I need help implementing this method with multiple lists (owners.) In context, I build the list of items from my desktop but then, using my mobile, I want to quickly remove/add items using the pool of items from the DB. I've been trying to add a "current_ListID" (temporary listID pulled through with Relations) as a column in the lists table and then adding the "current_ListID" to the "group+MyListArray" using the Make Array. My adaptation of your method needs to be fixed. I will keep plugging away, but I am missing something obvious.
