Your Lie in April was one of, if not the first Anime, no scrap that. The first piece of media to portray romance in a way that aroused my interest. I hate most romantic films. They usually fail to produce any emotion in me and often times are overshadowed by their comedic relief. I don´t know, there is something very existential about the top tier romantic anime. Violet Evergarden and Clannad After Story also come to mind.
