The gel top coat didn't work because she cured it. You have to "flash cure" the top coat first. Stick it under the lamp for 5 seconds; this is enough time to keep the top coat from moving. _Then_ burnish your powder or glitter into the tacky layer left by not fully curing the top coat. After that, you need to stick it back in the lamp and finish the cure time. Then, add another layer of gel top coat, cure, and you're good to go.

Don't use a no wipe top coat. I paint a color of gel polish, cure it for the full amount of time and there will be a sticky residue layer that you pack the glitter on to and then brush it down with a dry brush to lay down the particles. Then top coat and cure again

To anyone wanting to do this that doesn’t have yellow stopper or any of the other things she used, a base coat that has become a little thicker will work too. It’s not quite as stunning as the yellow stopper but it definitely works well.

I find that using the quick dry top coat from diaso ( which is like a japanese 2 dollar shop) is really good it drys super quick so you just paint all your nails and then go back and burnish them with the HOLO. (I don’t know if you are in America but if you are I don’t know if they have Diaso in the states i know they are in most Asian countries they are also in Australia so they might have them in the states!!! 🥳🥳🤗

So I found the best applicator is one of those touch screen stylus with the squishy silicone top. It's round and not as hard as the silicone tool used here. I find the silicone based tools pick up the glitter much better than one of the sponge applicators for some reason, and if it's a cheap sponge it can leave fibers or hair residue on the nails.
