Many thanks, James, for another video of this delightful composition by Robin. As usual with Tuba Skinny's original compositions, this is more subtle than casual listening suggests. I may be wrong, but it appears to me to have a Strain A (16 bars, starting at 00:41, with breaks in Bars 7,8, 15 and 16). Then at 01:06 we find a Strain B , with a melody of just 8 bars that repeatedly rises and falls. Next (01:18 - following the hand-on-head signal) we are back to Strain A , this time with Craig taking a break on Bars 7 and 8. At 01:42, we have a neat 4-bar Bridge , in which Craig, Shaye, Barnabus and Todd take one bar each in turn - an example of the classy manoeuvres Tuba Skinny execute so well and which we rarely see in other bands. And so it goes on - a 16-bar solo played by Todd (except that he gives bars 9 - 12 to Max). At 02:14, we find the Ensemble revisiting Strain A , with Barnabus taking the breaks. Then, if I'm not mistaken, a Strain C (at 02:39), which seems to be based on a IV - I - II:V - I chord sequence, and on which both Craig and Barnabus are to improvise. At 03:56 we revert to Strain B (the one with the repeated rising and falling melody) and this is extended with a pretty little Coda to finish. The whole piece is in the key of F, I think. Any corrections or enlightenment would be welcome.
