Surprisingly the airbag didn’t go off (it should’ve as the cars front end was damaged badly). This vedio is really disappointing atleast they should have thought about number death in india due to unsafe vehicles
@danielmathews31173 жыл бұрын
1. In India we have a regulatory board called ARAI which gives authority to sell vehicles in India based on numerous tests among which full vehicle crash tests are a part. However, most vehicles pass these tests(only vehicles passing this can be sold on road). Firms like Tata and MAHINDRA are committed to safety. And hence, they take their vehicle to a more stringent test condition. GNCAP offers that stringent condition. We need not take it to European NCAP or the similar because we don't sell cars there. 2. As far as choice of cars is concerned, GNCAP chooses base model if safety features are standard across all models. If not vehicle with highest weight is taken which sometimes is the premium model. 3. For side test, the side if impact is chosen based in sole discretion if GNCAP. And this is based on worst side structures. 4. GNCAP doesn't take vehicles that are sold in Europe because they anyways meet ENCAP requirements which implies frontal and side crash safety as well(GNCAP req). 5. About Global NCAP, it is a not for profit organization. How does it make money? They don't charge money if they decide to choose the vehicle after sales have begun. However, if the company decides to give their vehicle to test voluntarily, there is a significant fee. This usually happens at beginning of production stage. This is one of the modes of making money. In a nutshell, there is no reason to believe it as a scam. It's a program to evaluate safety of a particular vehicle based on some crash load cases which are much stringent than load cases by our regulatory requirement. It is applicable for Indian and African New cars primarily because we are a developing country. Also claiming it as Indias safest car is correct. Because other so called 'assumed safe cars(especially luxury cars)' are not Indias car. They are European/other nations cars sold in India. There is no need to explicitly state as Indias safest produced car. Indias safest car is perfect term. As commitment to safety increases some features will become standard/'must have' which will benefit suppliers and the committed firms. For a country like India GNCAP is the most reliable safety rating agency at the moment and there exists no more stringent regulation applicable for India. Pls note that EuroNCAP etc are applicable if the vehicle is intented to be sold in respective continents. Doing an ENCAP test based without intent to be sold in Europe is simply a waste of money for indian manufacturers.

This video is very informative and needs to reach a very wide audience especially to those who (as mentioned in the video) drive "safe" cars as if they were indestructible, being a danger to others on the road. Will be looking forward to a detailed video explaining what NCAP is. It's actually about time we had our own NCAP. If the govt really wants to make safer cars for India I hope it will be a reality soon...
As per GNCAP, the choosing of the variant is based on 1. If the safety systems are not standard across the range, they pick the base model 2. If safety systems are standard across the range, they pick the heaviest model (full-option) for maximum impact. 3. If a number of base models have standard safety features, they pick the heaviest of them all 4. If a number of base models have standard safety features, they pick the one with an alloy wheel, as alloys crack under less load, sending more impact to the body (Where they want to test) Of course, the points highlighted in this video are quite valid. I am not sure why XUV700 AX7L was used for side-impact test. Thar AX though was discontinued before the tests so the LX they selected for the test is the heaviest variant with alloys.

@Aswin Biju Dude. That vehicle is registered in Feb. Also, it okay for manufacturers to create a special edition (one-off) for a specific purpose. @Aswin Biju It is not available for Public. You can't buy a Thar AX now. Only the company can specially make one if they deem fit.
@berlins52423 жыл бұрын
@@fazeenabdeen Have you seen Thar's July 2021 pricing sheet? Maruti Suzuki sells Gypsy to the Indian army on special order, Both cases are different. Moreover, rating of Thar came in November 25th 2020 and Ax removed from website on 9th November 2020. They send Thar for crash test maybe a month or two, by the time they got to know that Ax vaients won't score the same so they discontinued. But when they send Thar to crash test, Ax varient is still available. so it is clear that they manipulate this to get better results in crash tests.
@fazeenabdeen3 жыл бұрын
@@berlins5242 Buddy, crash test results matter only when people use them as a decision making parameter to buy a vehicle. So it doesn't matter if the variant was available a few months ago. It only matters if the unsafe variant is available for the public to buy when the crash results are out. In this case, the AX had long died when GNCAP announced the results. Now, I believe that you're smart enough to connect the dots.

There are various categories of test in medical device industry as safety is of paramount importance. 1. In silico or computer simulation 2. In vitro r lab tests 3. In vivo r animal studies 4. Clinical trials Drawing an analogy, i doubt the current gncap completely address all potential failure modes in crash. The number of failure modes investigated, number of samples per endpoints tested etc all are doubtful. So as per my opiniom, just have to say gncap qualified. Not as safer or safest etc. Second, even to say say qualified, i not sure gncap is a Federal funded regulatory agency. But, based on the observations from field accidents, i can be seen that certain foreign cars split into two pieces. Whereas some of the Indian origin doing good. So irrespective of the certifying agency, based on proven examples and manufactures choose a good car.

That requires a speed and sensors are placed at a position to get activated only at a higher impact to avoid unwanted expense on airbag replacements.

Thanks for choosing this topic..I always had similar views to what you presented in the video.. I have always tried to bust this myth in conversations.. your video helps add a lot of information and validation to my views in future convos.. thanks a lot! I just hate the fact that people nowadays just write off good vehicles based on what the Global NCAP rating is and end up having a bad experience with a car they bought banking on the safety and the service the company/dealer offers.

As usual a nice topic and discussion 👌 as you said the beauty pageant as an example, the safety rating (whether it is reliable or not) brings better safty features in our cars or the Indian car manufacturers forced to improv safely (dont forget Ambassador and Premier Padmini had good build quality). on the other hands TATA and Mahendra showed good build quality during accidents compared to our common Japanese cars. So it shows the ratings has some facts. However, now we start getting better products, it is really good for the people who spend their hard earned money.🙏
