Nestle misallocated 28 million gallons of water, meanwhile the almond milk industry in California uses an estimated 1.1 trillion gallons. That's 44 thousand times more water. The problem is incentives on what the government does or does not do. You have a lot of people moving to the desert that obviously need water to live and an agricultural industry that needs water as well setting up shop. This is why I live in Ohio. Not a desert.
@mikestarks8464 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, We have allowed developments and farmers grow in desert areas that are NOT meant for farming or inhabiting. My daughter is water engineer in Austin and says that Austin will likely be in big trouble by 2027.
@tsijr915 Жыл бұрын
thats the point, is to used up as much water as possible, plus the whole almond stats is actually off, the problem isn't watering them, the problem is "Nestle" taking water not only from where they said they are taking it, but taking from other areas ILLEALLY, and Nestle can't even sue or report me on this because it will backfire on them. Other companies as well taking water, just last year they dumped 100 years worth of water that could of gone to California and Colorado, like PAt says here, they had decades to come up with ideas and they haven't, because its pennies on the gallon they buy it to sell you hundreds of dollars on the gallon to everyone else. Farming almond isn't the problem, is corporations having rights to water is the problem There is no such thing as " water problem in USA , on the West coast" either, because it's a "man made problem"; YEARLY BASIS they dump enough water back into the oceans, they do NOT CARE about water preservation, they want to suck the land so people will leave and die, so they will take land while still selling their water.

@@mikestarks8464 I wish you and your daughters and others could have some nuance between almond farming with stolen water from the Colorado river and that nobody should live in deserts. People have lived in deserts for thousands of years it's just we respect our water unlike Californians who steal it waste it then flush it out to sea to appease a silvery minnow. The same government trying to force us off our land into tiny cities is the same government that tells me I can't have a rain barrel to collect water even if when I'm done with that water it goes right back into the environment where I am it's not like I'm bottling and selling it.
@b_uppy Жыл бұрын
Regarding farmers and ranchers it is about how they are farming and ranching, rather than how much water they use, per se. It's the problematic monocropping, annual plants, bare soil/fallow, site-innappropriate, overgrazing, CAFO, chemical-input, etc agriculture methods that are causing water wastage. Conventional ag dries and compacts the soil so that water has difficulty permeating. Seriously look INTO Restoration Agriculture by Mark Shepard and Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands and Beyond to see cheaper more effective ways to counter the water and industry monopolies. A large portion of CA water is controlled by the private company PomWonderful.

Reverse osmosis salination stations can fix a global water shortage. The main issue is discharging salty brine water into the oceans can disrupt natural marine ecosystems. An easy way to fix this salty discharge would be to build offshore desalination plants. This is similar to an offshore oil rig, but it turns salt water into freshwater. The infrastructure required to pump water around the globe would need to be MASSIVE. Easily said, but difficult to do. It’s like Elon Musk said, we need more talented engineers to fix today’s problems. Thanks @valuetainment for producing this video. Very informative 👍🏽

10:30 In Mexico in the past decades many companies like the ones you did mentioned in this video, are buying (for pennies of the actual price) lakes, rivers, wells, reservoirs, etc from the federal gov, those companies cut the water supply to towns, crops and livestock near those fresh water sources, it is common in some cities that water is limited to a few hours a day and some days in the week, with out mentioning the HIGH price they sell that water BACK to the population. 13:35 They do not want to create more fresh water, they just want to buy it low and sell it high.

Check out Allan Savory. You’ll find that we don’t have a water problem. It’s our management. The water cycle is broken due to poor penetration of water into soil. If that was fixed, we would only need to rely on groundwater. There’s enough, we just need to actively replenish it by capturing as much water as we can, with more plant coverage on bare soil.

I’m from Australia and Australia is one of the largest exporter of virtual water ( products that consume a lot of water ) So over the years from research and personal experience in Australia it is a 4 year cycle. 4 years it’s raining and flooding 4 years it’s drought and fires. Unfortunately the places it rained and caught fire is moving. For example the places we expect rain are well drained and have dams to collect the water for the farms. These places are now facing drought. The farmers are selling out and moving towards water. The other places we didn’t expect to rain now have heavy rain and the infrastructure is not capable and causes a flood. This year is the last of the rain years so the government is already planning for fires and started back burning to prepare for what ever happens.

Several of the biggest market experts have been voicing their opinions on exactly how awful they think the next downturn would be, and how far equities may have to go, as recession draws closer and inflation continues.. well above the Fed's 2% objective. I'm trying to build a portfolio of at least $850k by the time I'm 60. I need suggestions on what investments to make..

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day invt decisions being guided by a init-coach, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using a init-coach for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Viable solution is to construct Thorium based MSR (molten salt reactors) in areas with adjacent sea water or underground brackish water. These power plants desalinate water as part of their energy generation process. So, you get power and water. Win win!
