An Olympic style track cyclist specialised workout, like Chris Hoy & Jason Kenny used to do. I think he'd be at home back in the weights room. Then 3 / 6 months from now get him back on the track to measure the improvement.

The issue with that is, it will never happen 99% of the time. People that invested their time building gains in body building will never let go of what they worked for. Its similar to cyclists who has done years just to switch to body building. Muscles are more important to body builders than being skinny but have high aerobic capacity.
@vesalehtinen4534
@vesalehtinen4534 Жыл бұрын
@@PhiyackYuhwell I don’t think anyone is suggesting that he would switch to full time cycling and ditch body building. I think the point is that with a bit on practise, he could be seriously fast on the track, without compromising on muscle mass, or other body building goals.

Brad seems like a really sound guy; willing to take on challenges that are clearly out of his normal comfort zone and attacking them full on. As others have said, there's real potential for him to do very well in sprint races - that second race pushed Harvey pretty hard, even if he probably could have gone harder earlier but it certainly made for good watching!

A flying 200 requires experience as well. You don't want to gass yourself before the lap even started, but if you start too slow it's gonna cost you a lot of time. That and holding a line while going all out is pretty darn difficult if you've never been on a track before.

I think this specific bodybuilder vs track cyclist episode has been helpful in emphasizing how lifting heavy (either using a bodybuilding or powerlifting based scheme) does have net positive effects on cycling! Even without training, Brad put out good power there which was I presume because of the strength he developed in the weight room. Anecdotally, I can also say that cycling to work often has helped me recover faster from heavy lifting and the gym. Which means better strength progress and therefore better cycling as well! It’s a perfect match, in my experience!

Exactly what I thought. The pro time trial bike had *deep wheels* and a *narrower bar*, making it much more aero. Also The bodybuilder has much more *upper body area* to block the wind, so also much less aero there. The wheels and tires alone would be enough to justify those few seconds difference...right?! or am I wrong? To be honest, I was shocked/impressed with the results, since the bodybuilder would typically not have so much slow twitch fiber muscles as the pro rider that trains very specifically for that purpose, every day.

Haven’t rated Brad in previous vids but fair play here … that’s good goin. Most people won’t have been on a velodrome so won’t appreciate how good a 14.8 lap is.. 💪🏽

I think Brad's got potential in sprint races. Give a couple of months to enhance his riding skills and I'm pretty sure he's going to win some races.

I'm not sure the amount of gear he's on would be allowed in actual races?

Would've made more sense to put both riders on identically spec'd bikes - right away, our track rider's bike looks like it'd be a lot faster.

I am not too sure if that is a fair race with a lot of differences between their equipment and body weight plus the strength. Perhaps, if Brad was a bit lighter with exceptional lower body strength (legs power), with an aerodynamic bike with carbon wheels and some training or practice. He could possibly match with a pro-cyclist. Wouldn't you agree?

Would love to see a Zwift race with Greg Doucette. He's an pro body builder & powerlifter, and he actually is a Zwift rider as well, for the last few years I think
