I'm following along and understanding on most details. Not quite clear on the necessity for the 18cm extension at the waist though. (18cm is the length you want the top part of the drape to be. Would the hip extension always be half of that measurement)? I'm guessing this is where pattern making experience comes in. Also how do you know how wide to extend the opening for a pleat? You said 6-7 cm. Is this a formula?

Do you cut out the full front of the original skirt pattern for the layer underneath?
