Economic Globalisation: Economic globalization is the intensification and stretching of economic interrelations around the globe. 2. Political Globalisation: Political globalization is the intensification and expansion of political interrelations around the globe. 3. Cultural Globalisation :Cultural globalization is the intensification and expansion of cultural flows across the globe. 4. Thank you Ma'am for explaining this topic so well, it helps alot. Globalisation is a worldwide interconnectedness, interdependence, integration of ideas, places, information, objects, activities and exchanges. It is, both as an ideology and process has become the dominant political, economic and cultural force in the 21st century and impacted the role of state in a significant manner. Professor George Lister says that there is a tendency among stars to reduce the economic realm and activities. But there is much more to globalisation than economics. And it can be seen in its dimensions i.e. economic, political, cultural, technological and ecological.

Thank you so much for the amazing lecture on globalisation. Globalisation is the system of interaction among the countries of the world in order to develop the global economy. In other words it is the process by which world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of increased trade and cultural exchange. According to T. Evans , Globalisation is the ' space- time compression'. It has many dimensions: 1) Economic 2) Political 3) Social, and 4) Cultural Political globalization refers to the growth of the worldwide political system, both in size and complexity. One of the key aspects of the political globalization is the declining importance of the nation-state and the rise of other actors on the political scene. There is a heated debate over political globalisation and nation state. Hyper globalists argue that globalisation has engulfed today's world in such a way that state boundaries are beginning to lose significance. But Skeptics disregarded this as a naivete believing that nation state remains the supreme actor in international relations.

Current globalization trends can be largely accounted for by developed economies integrating with less developed economies by means of foreign direct investment, the reduction of trade barriers as well as other economic reforms, and, in many cases, immigration. International standards have made trade in goods and services more efficient. An example of such standard is the inter modal container. Containerization dramatically reduced the costs of transportation, supported the post-war boom in international trade, and was a major element in globalization.International standards are set by the International Organization for Standardization, which is composed of representatives from various national standards organizations.

Impact of Globalisation on India Globalization has been defined as the process of rapid integration of countries and happenings through greater foreign trade and foreign investment. It is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture. What are the factors aiding globalisation? 1) Technology: has reduced the speed of communication manifolds. The phenomenon of social media in the recent world has made distance insignificant. The integration of technology in India has transformed jobs which required specialized skills and lacked decision-making skills to extensively-defined jobs with higher accountability that require new skills, such as numerical, analytical, communication and interactive skills. As a result of this, more job opportunities are created for people. 2) LPG Reforms: The 1991 reforms in India have led to greater economic liberalisation which has in turn increased India’s interaction with the rest of the world. 3) Faster Transportation: Improved transport, making global travel easier. For example, there has been a rapid growth in air-travel, enabling greater movement of people and goods across the globe. 4) Rise of WTO: The formation of WTO in 1994 led to reduction in tariffs and non-tariff barriers across the world. It also led to the increase in the free trade agreements among various countries. 5) Improved mobility of capital: In the past few decades there has been a general reduction in capital barriers, making it easier for capital to flow between different economies. This has increased the ability for firms to receive finance. It has also increased the global interconnectedness of global financial markets. 6) Rise of MNCs: Multinational corporations operating in different geographies have led to a diffusion of best practices. MNCs source resources from around the globe and sell their products in global markets leading to greater local interaction.

Globalization operates on a cross-cutting "ideological dimension" filled with a range of norms, claims, beliefs, and narratives about the phenomenon itself. According to Steger, there are three main types of globalisms (ideologies that endow the concept of globalization with particular values and meanings): market globalism, justice globalism, and religious globalisms. Steger defines them as follows:

Globalisation is the process by which the world is being more interconnected because of the technological advancement, increasing trade and cultural exchange. We can say that boundaries don't exist anymore. It has four dimension: 1. Economic : it concerns market, exchange and trade. Earlier conflicts would result in military war but now the wars are trade related. States are not the only player in economic activity but they are checked by greater global power like world bank , IMF etc. MNC are now very common competing with the domestic trade system. 2.Political: the world has become unified, boundaries don't exist anymore, the borders are shrinking. The domestic power of government is checked and challenged by international factors i.e. superior power. Decesion is no longer confied to only domestic government. 3. Cultural : we are adapting the culture of the world with the rise of mnc and innovation in technology. Diversity seems like taking a back seat in order to get unified. 4. Ecological : as the increase in migration , rise in mnc and many other factors have led to deforestation and many issues resulting in global warming and harmful effects on environment. Sustainable development have been proposed in Rio Earth summit to tackle this issue.

Military Military globalization, as subdomain of political globalization, is defined as the intensification and stretching of military power across the globe through various means of military power (nuclear military weapons, radiation weapons simply weapons of mass destruction). This form of globalization occurs across offensive and defensive uses of power and survival in international field. Beyond states, global organizations such as the United Nations also extend military means globally through support given by both Global North and South countries.

Manfred Steger, professor of Global Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa argues that globalization has four main dimensions: economic, political, cultural, ecological, with ideological aspects of each category. David Held's book Global Transformations is organized around the same dimensions, though the ecological is not listed in the title.[1] This set of categories relates to the four-domain approach of circles of social life, and Circles of Sustainability. Steger compares the current study of globalization to the ancient Buddhist parable of blind scholars and their first encounter with an elephant.[2] Similar to the blind scholars, some globalization scholars are too focused on compacting globalization into a singular process and clashes over “which aspect of social life constitutes its primary domain” prevail.

• Debate in globalization:- The continuous growing connection global connection have had a substantial impact on our day to day lives in one way or the other which indeed makes globalization a point if analysis. Today our systems have become multi dimensional complex system. • Globalization may be seen as a modern phenomenon however the roots of globalization have existed in the past also it is always the idea about interchange and exchange that were even prominent even in middle ages. Example :- 1.Trading system by European communities/ companies at the time of colonialism 2. Great Silk Route These are prominent evidences of interchange of ideas, people, goods, services in other terms evidences of existence of globalization. However when we look at present day Phenomenon the widely discussed ideas of interconnectedness, interchange, exchange that have indeed made idea of globalization much more complicated as well as unique phenomenon • What are the various ways by which Globalisation has indeed had a great impact on the contemporary world and lives :- 20th century witness great changes in history of mankind in terms 1st and 2nd World War, The Great Depression, Cold war, etc.. These are examples of history that try to show that the world became much more interlinked in terms of technological advancement, communication, information technology, that further developed and used by countries to maintain balance in the society. Most prominent of such interconnections is the collapse of Soviet Union after Cold War. The world had a different trajectory wherein at this time the world was undoubtedly interlinked that could build the idea of sustainable society. This idea of globalization has lead to changes continuously being brought up and being innovated that has less control for social, economical, political, technological dimensions. Growth in the sector of trade, commerce, technology, communication, have had an impact on everyday events including local events which now have global recognition and therefore needs to be studied as effect of globalization. • Dimensions and scope of globalization can be summarised as Economic, Political, Cultural, Technological, Ecological. • Globalization should be seen as contested concept with positives and negatives. • There are enormous issues related to Globalisation like distinction between globalization and Globalism, etc.. • Globalization has multiple interpretation in today's world along with positive as well as negative dimensions. • Globalization can be seen as defining criteria in today's world and also as irreversible because of the choices it presents to us somewhere there are deep within our lives. • Globalization may denote exchange and interdependence but somewhere we have to seen within this exchange and interdependence there are certain other concepts.

Globalisation is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly inter-connected as a result of massively increased trade and cultural exchange. Globalisation has increased the production of goods and services. The biggest companies are no longer ferms but multinational corporations with subsdaries in many countries. Globalisation has been taking place for hundreds of years, but has speeded up enormously over the last half century. It's dimensions can be categorised as: (1)- Political: (a) Cultural interchanges (b)- Homogenisation (c)- Counter diversity (d)- Consumerism (e)- Cultural aggression by the west 2: Social- The further marginalization of vulnerable sectors (b)- A threat to least mobile sectors, the environment and indigenous cultures (c)- The destruction of eco-system, environment and natural resources (d)- Removal of direct support from the state (e)- Removal of direct support form the state 3: Environment- A global economic process or activity (b)- Openness (c)- Integration of economies (d)- Neo-liberalism (e)- Free trade or liberalization, degradation and privatisation Thank uh ma'am for explaining the topic so well 🌻

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world's economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information. There are four distinct dimensions of globalism: economic, military, environmental, and social. Economic globalism involves long-distance flows of goods, services and capital and the information and perceptions that accompany market exchange. Environmental globalism refers to the long-distance transport of materials in the atmosphere or oceans or of biological substances such as pathogens or genetic materials that affect human health and well-being. Military globalism refers to long-distance networks in which force, and the threat or promise of force, are deployed. The fourth dimension is social and cultural globalism. It involves movements of ideas, information, images and of people, who of course carry ideas and information with them. In the past, social globalism has often followed military and economic globalism. However, in the current era, social and cultural globalization is driven by the Internet, which reduces costs and globalizes communications, making the flow of ideas increasingly independent of other forms of globalization.

Cultural Cultural globalization is the intensification and expansion of cultural flows across the globe.[2] Culture is a very broad concept and has many facets, but in the discussion on globalization, Steger means it to refer to “the symbolic construction, articulation, and dissemination of meaning.” Topics under this heading include discussion about the development of a global culture, or lack thereof, the role of the media in shaping our identities and desires, and the globalization of languages.

IMPACTS OF GLOBALISATION IN INDIA Economic Impact: Greater Number of Jobs: The advent of foreign companies and growth in economy has led to job creation. However, these jobs are concentrated more in the services sector and this has led to rapid growth of service sector creating problems for individuals with low level of education. The last decade came to be known for its jobless growth as job creation was not proportionate to the level of economic growth. More choice to consumers: Globalisation has led to a boom in consumer products market. We have a range of choice in selecting goods unlike the times where there were just a couple of manufacturers. Higher Disposable Incomes: People in cities working in high paying jobs have greater income to spend on lifestyle goods. There has been an increase in the demand of products like meat, egg, pulses, organic food as a result. It has also led to protein inflation.

Market globalism seeks to endow ‘globalization’ with free-market norms and neoliberal meanings. Justice globalism constructs an alternative vision of globalization based on egalitarian ideals of global solidarity and distributive justice. Religious globalisms struggle against both market globalism and justice globalism as they seek to mobilize a religious values and beliefs that are thought to be under severe attack by the forces of secularism and consumerism. These ideologies of globalization (or globalisms) then relate to broader imaginaries and ontologies.
