She has a beautiful voice. I'm glad she turned her life around before she passed. Just an example of God's grace and your never to old to ask him for forgiveness.

I knew Norma Jean. This was taken at Charleston Arbors where she lived and Jesco also lived for awhile. She was the sweetest person. When I visited my aunts there, we all used to go to the community room and talk and sing sometimes. Some people thought we were nuts but it was all in fun. We sure miss you Norma Jean. You are singing with the angels now. Love you eternally our friend.

That's our WV accent, soft & musical. Everyone wants us to be ashamed of our heritage. They call us hillbillies. WV was very isolated before cars. Our language originated from Elizabethan English. The settlers here were Scots Irish & German. The accents are fading now. I enjoy heading older WV talk.

Wow -- I know this lady was ridden hard and put up wet as we say in the south. I would have loved her and she reminds me of SOOOO many people I grew up around here in the NC mountains. May she rest in peace indeed. I'm not saying she wasn't wild in her day but believe me I understand how it can happen in these places and that doesn't make her one bit less of a person to me.

Can’t deny I myself been in juke joint 30+ yrs ago & raising cane . Settled for a good while now . Dues paid & good bad& ugly memories. My desires to be liken Norma was . My sites on my family & The Lord . Tho admittedly some of the old ways remain inside me. Looking back , I wonder if Jesco was ever in a hole n the wall joint a group of us went to. There was to be an Elvis impersonator there that night. The yr Norma passed , was the last time I bashed at Fines Creek for Blue grass festival . I can resonate with much of her life. Im glad it’s all in the past now .

The stories about the royals are far worse, and they have no honesty at all. The good thing about the whites is they’re honest and they tell you they know what they’re doing isn’t right. They don’t deceive you.
