Embossing can be done on crusted buttercream but use the cutters that are a little larger and have less detail.

Louise Anderson You're welcome. It is a very easy technique with a dramatic effect. Just be sure to do it while your fondant covering in fresh and soft.

I bought a set of poinsettia patch work cutters and because I didn't know how to use them I made a really horrible design cake for Christmas last year. I never used them again, but now thanks to you, I see possibilities for using them. Thank you very much. Please make more videos. I would like to see how to make more types of flowers. Hell, I would like to see anything you can teach me. LOL

I apply the fondant about 1/4 inch thick. I have no preference of brand but I do find that Fondarific stays soft longer allowing for more time to emboss the cake.

I want you to let me know when you used that technique was your butter cream frozen or room temperature because when you put the pearl dust the fondant looks like it is room temperature
@GlobalSugarArtyoutube9 жыл бұрын
Gata Romero It was not buttercream, it was room temperature fondant.
@carolinakiwi1239 жыл бұрын
Thanks,Yeah but before you cover with fondant, what kind that frosting you use to cover that cake and i want to know if that frosting was room temperature. Sorry is just I want to know.
@GlobalSugarArtyoutube9 жыл бұрын
Gata Romero I iced the cake with a thin layer of room temperature American buttercream before adding the fondant layer. You can then chill the cake for about 15-20 minutes and it will make embossing easier to do.

How long does it usually take for a fondant to begin to crust? (As in, how much time have I got?!) is there any way to re-soften it, such as by warming it with your hands?
@GlobalSugarArtyoutube10 жыл бұрын
The brand of fondant you use and the humidity in your kitchen will determine how long before the fondant will crust. Satin Ice tends to dry faster then Fondarific due to the fat content in the fondant. You usually have 30-60 minutes or less emboss the cake once it is covered. There is no way to make the fondant soft again once it has crusted.
@t0mal1s0n10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 30mins is much more than I expected so I should be good :)

This may be a stupid question BUUUUT... If i used a crusted buttercream frosting, and waited til it crusted, would I be able to do the same effect? So basically on buttercream frosting, and not on fondant? Much appreciated! :)
@GlobalSugarArtyoutube9 жыл бұрын
+mgraupi88 This is not a stupid question at all! Yes, you can achieve the same effects on crusted buttercream and is done all the time!
@mgraupi889 жыл бұрын

+GlobalSugarArt what is "crusted" butter cream? Is that just regular butter cream that has dried?
@ememusen84787 жыл бұрын
How do you mean when you say the founder is fresh?
@GlobalSugarArtyoutube7 жыл бұрын
I was refering to the Fondant being freshly placed on the cake. Once the fondant begins to harden a little on the outside, you can no longer emboss it.
