That cake at 10:10 had to take HOURS!!! I feel I'm pretty experienced but this was a great informational tutorial.. Please do more with sencils !! And thanks for sharing the link to the stencils too !! So kind !! Also I love the striped cake that you ended up adding a couple sprinkles on to add dimension. That made it perfect imo !!

This was beautiful and very informative Emily. I have used stencils and every single time it smudges my buttercream while removing it, despite cake being chilled. The only reason that I can think of is the room temperature and cake temp diff, as the cake comes down to room temp faster. Or if you can think of any other reason. If you’re wondering I use IMBC.

I've never tried stencils with IMBC - I use my 4 Minute Buttercream made with butter and powdered sugar and it sets very firm so I can apply pressure to stencils without damaging the frosting

Absolutely amazing techniques of stencilling. I’ve never used stencil on a cake. I’ll dare to attempt one of your techniques on my upcoming wedding cake. Will tag you if it’s a success. I use American buttercream do you think it’ll work properly? I’ll omit meringue powder from it to get a crusty surface for stencilling.

I use American buttercream too and it works really well as long as it's firm enough so the longer you can put it in the fridge before applying the stencil, the better!
