Even though I do have the Sig P365 ….I added this Glock 42 to my collection of .380s . Target shooting .380 caliber is less painful on my arthritic shoulder and elbow ,…especially when quicker shooting …and helps me stay on target a tad quicker. I’m 70 and trying to avoid shoulder replacement…..this will help !

Glock fixed some reliability issues with new production models beginning in 2018. Here’s what they changed: As of late 2018, G42 newest mags are now series “03.” Also, the newer G42’s (late 2018) have changed the internals with newly designed parts. Specifically three components have been redesigned. First is the biggest culprit that gave most of the problems and that’s the slide stop. It’s been redesigned not to physically make contact with the bullet protruding out the top of the magazine. The old design was actually touching the tip of a bullet in the magazine and that caused huge problems with the reliability of the weapon. On the new slide stop part, it is stamped with an added “-1,” immediately following the part number engraved on it. Second is the trigger mechanism housing (TMH), which also now has the “-1” designator stamped on it adjacent to the part number as well. Last is the frame of the gun next to the trigger, which also has a “1” stamped into it and indicating the latest slightly redesigned internals of the frame. These are the changes one can see Glock did to indicate that one has the “newest” redesigned G42. I looked for these changes at the dealer when I bought my newest G42’s. You can see the “1” stamped on the right side of the frame looking down by where the trigger bar connects to the trigger mechanism. The other parts can’t be viewed so easily unless you fully disassemble the gun beyond “field stripping.” But no dealer will allow you to do that. If your new 42 comes with the “03” stamped magazines (back of the mag near the bottom of the bullet “windows”), you’ll know you have the latest designed G42. The LATEST model Glock 42’s eat all ammo you feed through it and pretty much without a hitch. However theres always one caveat where that occasional “lemon” is still produced for some reason or another and no matter the product (car, boat, tools, appliance, firearm). This is why I NEVER buy the first year model of “anything.” I always wait a year or two for the bugs to get worked out. Whether it be new cars, to new electronics to new guns, one should always WAIT a while before buying a brand new model, until the factory can work out some minor design flaw issues. In conclusion, the newest G42’s on dealer shelves these days are “nearly” flawless in function. I say “nearly” because I’ve never ever seen a small pocket gun in .380, nor any caliber for that matter, that doesn’t have an occasional malfunction. If you’re still experiencing issues with your 42, and you’ve switched ammo and magazines to no avail, then I’d send the gun and all the magazines back to Glock. Include a letter explaining the issue. Be forewarned that if you have ANY aftermarket parts in either the gun or factory magazines, Glock removes them and won’t send them back with your firearms. That’s just the way they do things. With that said, I trust my life and my daughter’s life (she has a CCW) with the newer production Glock 42.

Thanks man. I just ordered one. I watched several videos about this gun and several of the guns jammed / malfunctioned. I looked into the issues and saw they did resolve them after Glock trying to ignore / deny them. I’m confident my Glock (given the year is 2023) will be the redesigned model but I will look for these markings. I shot the g43 and 42 before purchase. Decided to go with 42. It’s smaller and I’m more accurate with it given the lower caliber. Ease Concealment was top priority for me as well.

This is a great gun for deep concealment. In some states CPL holders can carry in "gun free zones" which always makes SOME people nervous, so the super deep concealment is great. It is a "compromise caliber" but I'd rather have this than nothing. It's also very easy to shoot and unless you have Parkinson's you can place multiple rounds on target fast and easy. Great for backpackers, trail runners and PTA parents. The only downside right now (Jan 2021) is ammo.

Never ever perform an extended arm movement , the slow speed and poor power move he performed would almost certainly get him killed
@chrisokane88583 жыл бұрын
To explain my comment I have seen many " this is what would really happen in this situation" where the arm was caught by the assailant and the victim was then dissarmed or there was not enough pressure was applied in the push again the assailant would see the other arm reaching for the gun and grab both hands or if they had a gun would kill yhe victim before they had a chance to even unholster their weapon . This annoys me that peiple will watch videos like this and think they would walk I to a situation such as this and win every time . it gives false confidence and that is the biggest weapon the assailant could have against a victim .
