Too many people skip this step and it not only ends up harming them but in rare it also harms those around them because we all know that bullets don’t just stop after they hit dry wall or what not. Toss the gun in some hot water and a bit Simple Green. Let it sit for five minutes scrub it up with a toothbrush and clean barrel. Rinse with hot water and dry with cloth and hair dryer. You can feel how clean. Lube it up and your good to go.

*Wear gloves (nitril, latex, vinyl, etc) to keep lead from getting on your skin while cleaning guns FYI. Lead a neurotoxic metal that harms the glial cells of the brain. I work with lead acid batteries professionally, so I know a lot more about lead safety than the average person. As a scientist with a background in chemistry, toxicology & environmental science, I am warning you to wear personal protective equipment because your skin absorbs things. Also using solvents exposes you to airway hazards, so do you gun cleaning in a garage, workshop or other area away from foods, the kitchen etc. Make sure you use solvents in a well vented area & avoid storing solvent soaked rags in a bin *leave them outside to evaporate & dispose of the materials ethically in accordance with local laws in your area. Also be careful when storing solvents, flammable substances like gasoline, alcohol, etc. Store in a sturdy fire resistant cabinet away from sources of ignition like a natural gas furnace, water heater, stove, etc.

Only certain organic lead compounds not covered by the standard, such as tetraethyl lead, can be absorbed through the skin. The only concerns about the lead a person will encounter when cleaning a firearm are the concerns of ingestion or inhalation. I'm all for gun safety but stating that the lead encountered when cleaning firearms is absorbed through the skin is simply not true. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration website states this, so if you're experienced with handling lead I assume you have read this: www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.1025AppA

THANK YOU, sir, for a very informative video! I’m still somewhat new to guns and have a new Glock 42. There are tons of videos on KZbin that claim to show people how to disassemble and clean a gun, but the people skip key steps and assume we all know how to do what they skip over. Your video was, by far, the most helpful I’ve found. Thank you!
@worstcasescenarioch5 жыл бұрын
Avoid running a dry brush through your barrel without wetting it first. Not because you will damage anything but because you WILL have powder residue inside your barrel, and running a dry brush in it will basically throw said powder everywhere like a cloud of dust. You will breath it, you will put it on your furniture and clothes and if you can avoid doing such a thing by wetting the barrel first you should do so.

One thing I love about this video is "God bless America and long live the republic" we need to say that more often.. Great video by the way.
@EverettVinzant6 жыл бұрын
deucedeuce22oz Your keyword “god” does nothing for the Republic. This is why there is a separation clause. Religion is the codification (organization) of belief. Belief is the acceptance of claims without evidence. The only hate I have is towards the acceptance of claims without evidence (or the acceptance of claims despite evidence, what we call faith). I hate the acceptance of claims without evidence (despite evidence) because it does nothing to strengthen arguments. The only way (belief/faith) support knowledge is to give someone motivation to discover those things that are concordant with reality (truth). So what I was saying is, I don’t understand why people are taking a stand that is concordant with reality and then invoke mythology and weaken their argument. Why would I want/like a weaker argument? Why would you hope my hating of weak arguments is “removed from my heart?” How would anyone benefit from that?

sootch00 Hey I have a question if you have a moment: during the inspection the slide stop doesn’t snap back down smoothly (G26 gen 3, basically like new, as only been fired roughly 50 times in years so maybe not “broken in” yet?) It does “snap” but it takes me pushing it down, it’s not smoothly like in your video. I tried it on a G19 (also Gen 3) and it snaps down smoothly just like in your video, without me forcing it, but the G19 when purchased already had been fired/used a lot. Not sure if it’s suppose to snap back down always or if it takes time to “break in” before it’s more smooth - kinda like the trigger. BTW: thanks for the video! Just subscribed! This video is way better than trying to read it from Glock’s website!

I have a close friend who was handling his 1911 and had a negligent discharge where he shot his left index finger off. Auto loaders need to be handled w/extreme care. My buddy is an experienced gun handler and if this could happen to him, it could happen to anyone.

Not clean enough for me. Scrubbing it with a dry brush? When does the OCD vid going up?
@BigAlWillis6 жыл бұрын
what do you use?
@andrewneidinger6466 жыл бұрын
I never use a dry brush. Usually spray the gun with remoil or some kind of gun cleaner and then brush with a nylon brush. Then I go through with patches or a rag and clean everything up and wipe it dry. Then ill take Q tips to the rails. Cleans things up alot nicer. Then ill wait about 10 minutes to make sure everything is dry then lube it. Only things i use to clean is remoil. Nylon brush. Nylon barrel brush. And patches. And it cleans up real easy aslong as you clean it after every time you shoot it
@WildWing-wl7nj6 жыл бұрын
@@andrewneidinger646 That's the right answer. I wouldn't use a dry brush either.

I never owned a gun! I’m in the process of looking to purchasing one! A Glock 26 or 27 that I’m interested! But I might as well get used too and learn ahead of time how to clean them! Great tutorial!

Every few cleanings, pull the back plate off and remove the firing pin assembly and that little spring+rod to the right of the firing pin. make sure the inside of the breech is clean, as well as the pin assembly. I had a buddy's G19 that was failing to charge the firing pin because this glue-like gunk built up in there and was slowing the pin down a lot or even freezing it in place. This made the trigger feel super weird and inconsistent too. A quick oiled wipe got it functioning good as new!
