I love how these series tend to change dynamics with progression. A lot of defensive skills and decisions to survive now, but once armed and even more dangerous, no hole clubbing for his meat! Also, I hope his chicken watcher survives the whole series!!!

The Zombie protection that you have in the very beginning only protects against Zombies. Wolves, bear, or mountain lions are not affected (I sure got all et up while collecting wood to build frames with during the intro tasks!)

If you grind you can have the forge, workbench, cement mixer, mini-bike and an AK by day 7 via perks. Day 4 if the loot is in your favor and you build a small horde base to farm XP from wandering zombies. Small pillar base, four blocks off the ground, with a staircase up to a hole, then just Plate-block-plate with a plate on the top of the hole so that they can't crawl through. It's a great early game melee base and a place to fight off the wandering hordes, animals, etc. It'll even get you through the first 2-3 horde nights if you line the front of it with plates. They're cheap and quick to build.

Playing this game for some time now, I found a very simple base, that can be reinforced to amazing complexity, with traps etc. But the basic Idea is a follows. You find a staircase and uou block the tiop. Then you make a coridor above the staircase, and 3 clocks from the blocked top. , The zombies try to get up the stairs to get you and you hit hem on the back. Later you add a blade trap to the ceailing. Right above where the zombies stop at the top of the stair, a electric fence, a shitgun turret next to you, to hit them on the back, some junkies, a 9mm turret in the roof, to kill the birds, and you can fend off end game hordes. Of course your walls and the staircase, have to last, but the zombies, ainly attacj the top of he staircase. You just seat behing them and kill them at leaisu. With the right positioning, you don't even have to worry about cops. I usually put my stuff after this barrier. Because with the help of a shotgun turret, I don't have to worry about uninvited zombies.

Pro tip: when harvesting animals with a knife use a power attack just above the body and quickly move crossair back at the bady this way the animation of attack is a lot shorter aka saving time

i feel like bladed weapons might be better on higher difficulties since enemies don't get more health just have more defense. The bleed over time, especially if you can stack multiple bleed would be great.

Regarding the pit base, you can totally make it work, just make a 2 wide bridge over it with inward facing edge tips placed at the outer edge. The zombie Ai doesn't make the difference between wedge tips and full blocks and will just run down the middle and fall in the hole.

With the settings as you have them, would it help to go for leg shots with your guns? If you manage to take a leg off and turn them into crawlers, it would give you a bit of breathing room especially if you have several coming for you. Just a thought.

Nice have their uses too but a fear gives you reach and you don't have to get quite near as close and Spears do have a slight little bit of a bleed effect maybe not like a knife but they do a spear really would be a lot better for him that with the advantage of having reach and can penetrate those narrow holes that bullets don't go through while a spear can penetrate those and get the enemies on the other side

For your next series you should play the gambler's fallacy rules. Number the different options for difficulty/zombie speed/days between hordes 1-6 and roll a d6, play on those settings until horde night. I'd suggest maybe a d4 for the difficulty though cause it can get super boring below warrior.

question... why waste the resources on a storage chest outside the gas station when you could have just used the dumpster? I remember in A18 when I started playing, I would mark all the dumpsters in town that I was using for emergency storage. Hell, sometimes I would use them for food/drink/health depots around the cities. That way if I ran out of something while questing I could just go to one and heal up.

Just a heads up for the future, there's a weapons bag at the top of the tower near the noose in the first house you visited, I usually pole up to it after searching everything else. probably not worth going back for just a weapons bag though.

I had an idea for if you get to looking for things to do. What about exploring different mods that have the same scope as Darkness Falls. Other mods such as RavenHearst change much of the game in the same fashion and is quite difficult. I know that I would love seeing you play them, it would give me an idea on if I want to try out the mod.
