I have had my 2 glofish tetras for just over a year now. They have been doing really good. They from time to time pick on each other, but not that often. They both live with cory fish and cherry shrimp and the tetras dont bother them at all. I have a blue and an orange.

i have like 30 fish total , danios, tetras, and a shark & what i found in my tank, the more i had, the more the agro went away, truly….. more I had the more peaceful & less territorial they became, I love them dearly.❤️

I have to disagree with your comment about them needing a group of five or more because they are shoaling fishes. My limited experience with them tells me that this is not necessarily true. I had six glofish tetras in a 29 gallon heavily planted tank, with their tankmates all being among the ones you mentioned (except for platys). The tank was not overcrowded according to the algorithm provided by AqAdvisor. Temperature was kept at 21-22C. Water quality parameters were monitored weekly; no ammonia or nitrites, low nitrate and pH from 7 - 7.5. The glofish tetras didn't bother any other fish, nor did any of the other fishes bother them. However, they were extremely aggressive towards each other, to the point that each one seemed to stake out a territory. Eventually, I rehomed the two most aggressive ones, and two others died. The two that remained are doing well, and get along better than they ever did when there were more of them. I would love to get a few more, but I won't for fear of upsetting the behavioural balance that the two seem to have. The bottom line for me is that fish have personalities, and they don't always conform to what they are supposed to do.

I have been told by the pet store and watched couple videos like prime time aquatics I believe and they say if you have small group they will most likely pick each other off that they need to be in a large group way more then 6-8.

I have 9 of them (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) in a small quarantine aquarium (20 liters) with about 10 guppies, and they do shoal, their aggressivity is handled inside the group, they don't bother at all the guppies nor try to nip the guppy male's large tails

I have purple, pink, green and blue glofish tetras (16 in total). All the greens and pinks appear to glow vividly under blue light, while the blues and the purples don't glow at all...Any idea why? All of them seem to be doing well.

The reason why the green and pink GloFish tetras appear to glow vividly under blue light, while the blues and purples do not, is because of differences in the way the different color variations of the GloFish were genetically engineered. All of the GloFish tetras have been genetically modified to express fluorescent proteins that allow them to fluoresce under blue light. However, the exact type and amount of fluorescent protein expression can differ between the different color variations of GloFish. This is why some colors may appear to glow more brightly than others under blue light. It's great to hear that all of your GloFish tetras appear to be doing well. As long as they are kept in a suitable environment with proper care, they should continue to thrive.

@@AquaWorldInfo Indonesia. The most expensive are red, pink and blue. It's around 40K rupiah..well more or less (2-3 dollar). The green and yellow..a lil less than 40k .. so yeah...still expensive though .. lol

Aquarium plants only increase the supply of oxygen. But this does not mean that only the plant is enough. If your tank is big enough, then these fish can live even 24 hours without an air pump. this is just my experience

Male GloFish tetras are slightly smaller than female Glofish tetra. (when mature) Male GloFish tetras are slightly smaller than female Glofish tetra. So, if you see this difference you can easily point out the male ones. Also, male glofish are slightly slender in width as well as will seem a little petite than female. Hence, all you have to do is observe.

A pair of purple tetras will produce 100% purple fry. Mixing 2 different colors (of the same species), will result in 50% of the fry having color 1, 50% having color 2. No mixed color on a single fish, no reverting back to original, non-glowing fish.

I would recommend that you feed your fish "TetraBits" Food or "Hikari tropical micro pallets." This type of food gives a lot of benefits for the fish. Also, I would advise that you feed your fish once in every two days to the driedworms or tubifex worms.
