Shanise Rowan is from Alberta, Canada. This is her third recording for Cool Runnings Music. She is from our ancesters grounds from when we left Western Canada and headed south with our Apache cousins back in the 1000-1200's. My family/clan is originally from southern Colorado just south of our sacred Hesperaus - DaBenSah (big sheep) mountains.

please help me if I am wrong, but I heard that some of the words used in these Sacred Songs are so ancient , that some of the meanings have been lost, long forgotten from the time the Anazazis, the First Ones, were living in the cliff dwellings...but the Songs are passed down from generation to generation, and sung in that way...I do hear Dine words here a lot , which to me , is a hard language to understand.... I tried to take the course of the Dine ( Navajo) language when I was in school in UNM .....but was very sad to find out, it was not open..."closed" to white people ,or non tribal members....so it's a hard one to get...so , all I can do is try to listen to the Songs, over and over and over ....and over again, to try and get the pronunciations right, etc, to be able to sing the Songs.....I see a lot too, that people ask for the words here , and translations, but get no reply back , so i guess they want to keep it a secret...Its their right to keep it a secret ......I guess they are afraid it might be used in the wrong way....Still, I sure wish i twas it was not a secret.....The Medicine needs to be used now to stop the destruction of Mother Earth.....We are at a "Crossroads" , right now , in this very moment as I type these english words, where we must use all the Power of the Sacred Medicine , to share it with ALL the People of the World , to help stop the worst disaster that we can ever imagine that will happen soon , for SURE.... if we don not do something to stop it.......We have a short time left here on our Mother Earth to make it happen, the creation of the the New World, the World of Love and Peace......if we do not, it will forever be a World of War , and Death.......I have been told by a Medicine Man, a Shoshone, that "we only have 30 yrs to go" make the change...(and he said that like 40 yrs ago btw)...otherwise , we are ALL doomed, all the 4 Races of the People on Earth will suffer a terrible fate......and we are the ONLY ONES who can stop it , and ONLY with the SACRED POWER of the Medicine..........
