My wife and I were just in Fortaleza a few weeks ago, looking for properties just outside the main city. We visited the Iguatemi mall - yes, very big and very nice! We also visited another big mall called Riomar. We were surprised that the cost for small properties like one to three hectares with homes, swimming pools, lots of fruit trees, etc were so cheap compared with prices in the USA. Why are they so cheap? On the other hand, new car prices we found to be much more expensive in Brazil. Why, if they are manufactured there?

That sounds like an amazing trip! Fortaleza has some great spots. The affordability of properties in Brazil, especially with ample amenities, is often attributed to the lower cost of living. Factors like lower labor costs and materials contribute. As for cars, despite local manufacturing, taxes play a significant role, making them comparatively more expensive in Brazil. It's funny because when I went to Brazil I was expecting things to be so different and so exotic and everything especially when I was in Rio and then I ended up going to Outback Steakhouse which I thought was hilarious

I know what you mean. Brazil is definitely not exotic. It’s a lot like the U.S, just not as modern and with way friendlier people. The Brazilian parties that I would go to as a kid in Ocean Beach, San Diego with my family were a lot more Brazilian/exotic than Brazil is. lol but that was in 90s.

Yeah, that was a corn and bacon pizza. Perhaps I didn't pronounce that clearly, huh? I need to articulate my words better.
