You can feel the build up from start to finish in this clip. Pops just wants to have a quiet dinner and finish it and go home with whatever dignity he has left after what he went through at the mall. He has an overbearing wife that he has to deal with the nitpicking. And the simplest trigger was the the bread.

Pops was definitely embarrassed by the mall kids messing with him, as most of these comments point out. I think we've also got to point out the other reason why he didn't wear his new hat to the restaurant was because of his wife. He already knew that if she saw him wearing it that there would be issues, and low and behold she asked him if he spent any extra money at the mall, which made him lie and say that he did not. Both situations are emasculating, which is why he finally snapped at the waiter he bread he cared little about, and why he lit up when the saleswoman started flirting with him.

Feel bad for the waiter, but I also feel bad for Earn's Dad. As someone who's in their early 30s (but don't look it) I do understand his frustration with the younger generation in showing people respect. It's because of what happened to him earlier in the episode he unfortunately took out his frustration at the waiter.

I can understand the dad's reaction. Customer service in the US is whack. There's one time my grandma was with us for a 4-person reservation and my sister was standing outside to talk with an acquaintance, and they vehemently refused to sit us until all 4 of us are inside the restaurant, forcing my 90 years old grandma to stand there. I respect workers and all but sometime the US is straight up confrontational.

I was so satisfied seeing Earn's dad yelling at the waiter after being taken advantage of by those teens at the mall. He wasn't going to have it any more. I may not be as old as his dad, but I'm 25 and I'm an adult, and I have had to deal with coworkers of a younger generation, and a lot of them are disrespectful, and annoying. Sometimes I just want to react this way to them.

I don’t think the employee did anything wrong though…he was being respectful

@@miquonk He was being annoying and insisting on not allowing her to get her bread, when he could have easily been nice and just put it in a box for her. I get that it was his job, but a lot of younger people seem to not want to level with customers and just make everything a bigger deal than it has to be. Earlier at the mall, Earn's father was dealing with a clearly disrespectful young person, and now this was just the last straw for him. The waiter wasn't being that disrespectful, but he was just being annoying to him and consistently making a big deal out of the bread. I could relate to his dad's frustration, because I've been in those situations where you deal with someone horrible from earlier and then later, someone does something that just bothers you a tad bit more and it just sets you off

@@Cinemabuff97 nah I think you’re just trying to find an issue. How was he even being annoying? All he said was that he needed to check in before he gave out the bread because they usually don’t do that. I’m sure he didn’t want to get in trouble with management over some customers…the mom and dad was kind of out of line

@@Cinemabuff97 the kid was not disrespectful whatsoever…the mom was being pushy and the dad got rude….it’s that simple

@@miquonk Tbh man if I saw a video of an incident like this happening, I'd probably be siding with you on that and be angry at the dad for lashing out like that for someone just doing their job. But seeing what his dad went through in this episode, I just felt his frustration building up and was just a little annoyed by the waiter making a big deal out of bread.
