Glories and Wonders of Ancient Mesopotamia
Ancient Mesopotamia, often referred to as the cradle of civilization, encompasses a region located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in what is now modern-day Iraq, as well as parts of Syria, Turkey, and Iran. Flourishing between approximately 3500 BCE and 500 BCE, Mesopotamia was characterized by its remarkable advancements in various fields, including agriculture, architecture, governance, and literature.
This ancient civilization is renowned for its development of writing systems, notably cuneiform script, which was used for record-keeping, literature, and communication. Mesopotamians also made significant strides in mathematics, inventing the concept of the division of time into hours, minutes, and seconds, and developing the earliest known numerical system.
The Mesopotamian society was organized around city-states, such as Uruk, Ur, and Babylon, each with its own distinct culture, ruler, and governance structure. These city-states were often engaged in conflicts over land, resources, and power, leading to the rise and fall of various dynasties and empires throughout the region's history.
Furthermore, Mesopotamians were pioneers in architecture, constructing impressive ziggurats, temples, and palaces that served as centers of religious worship, administration, and trade. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, exemplify the grandeur and ingenuity of Mesopotamian engineering and horticulture.
Trade played a vital role in the prosperity of Mesopotamia, facilitating the exchange of goods such as grain, textiles, metals, and precious stones across vast networks extending to Egypt, the Indus Valley, and the Mediterranean.
Despite its eventual decline, the legacy of ancient Mesopotamia endures through its enduring contributions to human civilization, serving as a source of inspiration and knowledge for scholars, historians, and archaeologists alike.

Very nice pictures but so fanciful and inaccurate they are totally misleading. There are many accurate ruins that could have been used instead. Pretty but pointless.
